I don't really believe in the Bible either. I think it's just a bunch of crap written by man to control people. Unless I hear it from God's mouth, I won't believe it. I believe in his presence and I believe he wants us to live our lives in the best possible way, help others, accept others, accept jesus into our hearts and believe in him. Bible thumpers just piss me off. lol

I believe the Bible is an essentially correct history of the world at that time. I believe that the New Testament is a fairly accurate account of the life of Jesus. I think there are many lessons to learn from it. I wish the Catholic Church had included many more books in the Bible. I think the Catholic Church's quest to control Catholic thought, tradition, and money would appall Christ. ANYTHING can be twisted by sick and evil men. That is why being a thinking person is so much more important than being a follower.

Show me one contridiction in the Bible? Theres is. Some try to say theres contridition in death of Jesus. But, theres no contridition there. Most dont realizes there was two different standards of detecting time. That explains the contridition.
So, post me one example of contridiction, and I will add an addition. Most contriditions is because of misintrepretations of scriptures.
Dont let Satan deceive you into believing his lie!

Maybe you need to ask yourself what God you really believe in. Do you believe that God brought His one and only son into the earth so that Jesus Christ could save us from our sins?
I don't understand what you mean by the Bible trying to control people. The Bible is life's manual. Laws such as the Commandments were made by God for our own benefit. Just think: If everyone followed just those 10 commandments, there would be no murder, no AIDS, no marriages ruined by adultery...the list goes on.

There is too much for me to say on the subject. I type too slow for this one.... But you sound sincere, Some examples would be ,,,How did the Bible know to tell people to wash their hands before germs were ever discovered? What about all the prophesies in the Bible that were fullfilled just as it said? ETC...ETC...I highly recommend reading the book The Signature of God by Grant Jefferies. If you hate to read there is a Signature of God DVD. I hope that you will watch it. God is waiting to speak to you through His word. God Bless!!!

A literal reading of the Bible contains many impossibilities. Even if this wasn't true, I could never worship such a deity.
I'm a weak agnostic atheist, I qualify for both weak atheism and weak agnosticism.
I think strong agnosticism is as good as saying the supernatural exists, as their position is no matter what we uncover we can not understand the supernatural.
I think we now have a clear picture of the evolution of religion from polytheistic to monotheistic, and most organized religions disprove themselves. I don't see any evidence to give deities any other more thought than any other archetype that could come out of the human mind.
I think while strong atheism is not a illogical as claiming a deity as fact, it uses the same false logic.

Paul was supposedly born and raised in the city of Tarsus, a region in SE Asia-Minor (now called Turkey) where Mithras was well known. Biblical scholars are now saying that Paul, the alleged author of 13 out of the 27 (maybe more) books of the New Testament, may have been influenced in his writings by this strong religion of Mithraism. We can see a profound kinship between Mithraism and Christianity.
In-as-much as Mithraism was so popular in Rome, it is no wonder why the pagan Emperor Constantine, who believed in the sun god, Mithras, designated a certain day of the week to him, Sunday, which means, “the day of the sun.”
The original "Christian" faith became a mix of pagan, Mithramic, Jeudeo/Christian teaching. This lead to the confusing mix of theology that we have today within the "Christian" community. This apostacy from the original simple and plain teachings of Christ was accelerated by the persecutions and killings of any who tried to support the "old" ways. Maybe this solves the mystery of the “ungodly” marriage between Mithraism and the cult of Jesus. As it turns out, it was all for political convenience! But, Christians think they are better than that today. In short: The "Christianity" they have today has almost no relationship, in doctrine or in way of life, to the "the original teachings of Jesus."
In my mind, there are two Jesus' teachings. Jesus the Jew and Jesus the Gentile, which by the way is really Paul's Jesus. And guess which one Christians follow? The ex-pagan Constantine liked Paul's Jesus over Jesus the Jew. Jesus and all the others upon whom this character is predicated are personifications of the sun, and the Gospel fable is merely a rehash of a mythological formula revolving around the movements of the sun through the heavens.

1) Hundreds of years before Jesus, according to the Mithraic religion, three Wise Men of Persia came to visit the baby savior-god Mithra, bring him gifts of gold, myrrh and frankincense.
2) Mithra was born on December 25 as told in the “Great Religions of the World”, page 330; “…it was the winter solstice celebrated by ancients as the birthday of Mithraism’s sun god”.c
3) According to Mithraism, before Mithra died on a cross, he celebrated a “Last Supper with his twelve disciples, who represented the twelve signs of the zodiac.
4) After the death of Mithra, his body was laid to rest in a rock tomb.
5) Mithra had a celibate priesthood.
6) Mithra ascended into heaven during the spring (Passover) equinox (the time when the sun crosses the equator making night and day of equal length).

What is your reading style? A trap that people seem to fall into is to imagine up a mental picture to do with certain trigger words that might mean more to them in the text. In fact, if you think the text is speaking to you as a specific demographic in society, then that's exactly what I'm talking about. That's mythological, which the Bible speaks against.
The Bible is like hidden treasure. It relates to the lived life of others. It is not trying to set up a system or society of people who agree with each other's stylings.

You know what, the devil believes in God's existence James 2:19 " You surely believe that there is only one God that's fine . Even the demons believe this and it makes them shake with fear." What you have is head knowledge. What you need is saving faith which would require you to believe in the Bible.

Many individuals --& organized religions- have *twisted* what the Bible *actually* says, to make it *appear* to teach things Entirely Contrary to what it really says & means. This has even caused the deaths & torture of those who adhere to the Bible, by those who believed the lies!

"After my [the Apostle Luke's] going away oppressive wolves will enter in, ... not treat the flock with tenderness, and from among you yourselves men will rise and speak *twisted* things to draw away the disciples after themselves." --Acts 20:29,30
However, what individuals & organizations -(who are far removed from the Creator's mind & heart)- do, should have *no* bearing on one's feelings toward Him! The *actual-unadulterated* Word of God has a few,
more-difficult-to-understand spots, which 'twisters' have taken full advantage of. . However, it itself holds the keys to what these sections of scripture actually do mean...
