I don't think they should stop counting caution laps. But, I do think the Green/Yellow starts are pointless under certain circumstances. In the case of last week, NASCAR knew that there was no way they would be able to run even half of that race. It rained in Richmond all day long. There was no clear weather scan. But, sometimes there is a good chance that the weather will clear off and the race will be able to be run. I think that better judgment calls could be made regarding the Green/Yellow starts.

They should still count the caution laps since the cars are actually out there running laps, even if it's not full speed, but the Green/Yellow starts are stupid. After the rain postponed the race, Nascar decided to rerun the 13 laps again the next day since they never ran a green lap. That shows that they never even really considered that a real start to the race, so how could the race have started? My head hurts from thinking about it.

Caution laps need to be counted. There is strategy involved ... some teams stay out rather than pit to be ahead of all those who pitted. Also, how would you account for a long caution (several laps) where one car came in and repairs took several of those caution laps? That would be an unfair advantage if that car didn't suffer for being in the pits for several laps.
As for starting a race with Green/Yellow ... stupid idea. If it isn't safe to start racing immediately at full speed then you shouldn't start at all.

I don't think they should count caution laps with 10 to go or less. But if you didn't count them the whole race, it could last ummmm 12 to 15 hours (kidding sorta).
Green/yellow starts are just ridiculous. But the point to it was to try and dry the track a little quicker without keeping everyone there all night long.

Whoa, lets just think about it. If they stop counting yellow laps with the amount of cautions they have than a 5 hour race will turn into an 8 hour race. Who can possibly stay interested for 8 hours?

NASCAR should not stop counting caution laps because teams base their pit sequences and prepare for a certain number of laps in a race. If a team has calculated its fuel mileage down to the last lap and eight laps are added to the race because of cautions that is not fair to a team that has perfectly calculated and set themselves up for a good finish.

Yes, get rid of counting Caution(Yellow)laps at least when they are down to 10 laps to go. Must have Green Flag for last lap.
