I am saved by the Grace of God Almighty and The Precious Blood of Jesus Christ. My question is this: How can I become a stronger Christian? I have just become a member of my church and seek to put my hands to the plow for God. What should I be studying and doing that will keep me on the path to Righteousness? Please advise. God Bless You.

James W, I seek to understand the Bible first and be a witness to others. Then if it pleases the Lord, I will go where He sends me.

You are a true Christian when the callouses on your hands are more than those on your knees.

Go out and see and serve the suffering Christ in all people. Studying is nice, work is critical. The Gospel is a call to action.

Are you a new Christian? Congratulations, MY MAN!!!!

One of the BIGGEST THINGS you can do is read the Bible. This is a VERY, VERY DAUNTING task. Focus first on reading the Gospels and the Acts of the Apostles. When you have that down, read Paul's letters and Revelation as well. Start with the New Testament. Then go to the Old Testament and read Genesis and Exodus. Read and study the Bible stories and look for fulfilled PROPHECIES that point directly to Jesus Christ. As you get stronger, read into the Old Law. It will tell you about the sacrifices required to atone for sin and compare the rituals of this religion to what CHRIST HAS DONE FOR YOU!!!!! Read the Samuels and the Kings and the Chronicles to find out what kind of man King David and read his legacy. Then read his writings in the Book of Psalms! Read his son's stuff in Proverbs and Ecclesiastes to see how God affected Solomon and what he contributed to the Bible. Study the prophets through church, and once you have a firm foundation, read the Bible again from cover to cover over the course of a year, or two for that matter. You will TRULY FIND SOME AMAZING THINGS AND BE BLESSED from the reading!!!! You will find in the Bible that nobody, except Christ was perfect, but God blessed them anyway because they chose to walk with Him. When they confessed their sins and were penitent, they were perfect again in God's eyes, and he used them to save Israel and to save the world!!!

Cool stuff!!!

As you are reading, pray for yourself, by yourself, and with others in your church, and seek Christian fellowship, my friend.

Finally, I want to tell you Micah 6:8:

"He has shown you, O Man, what is good and what the Lord requires of you: To do Justice, to love Kindness, and to walk Humbly with your God."

I am very excited for you!!! God bless you, and welcome to your new life in Christ!!!!

Semper, the path to righteousness is all up to you not to fall into the temptations of any evil. But You have the love of God in your heart, so he will protect you, you need not worry.
Reading the Bible everyday will help keep you on the right track and give you a better understanding of what Christianity is all about.
God bless you too Brother.

I would immediately seek out an older man of God to be a mentor for you. You will need guidance like the apostles got from Christ, and you would do yourself a great service if you remember that the Christian walk is not all about bible study.

People learn to play football not primarily by reading about it, but by doing it. Same thing with being a Christian. Jesus trained the 12 by being with them and showing them how to preach, how to pray, etc. When things didn't go right, they got a live lesson. This is what you need, and you need to have a mentor who has lots of time for you.

Blessings in Christ my brother!
Tom

Become involved in your church. It makes me feel good when I give back. Find a way to help others; maybe once in a while, volunteer somewhere. You could try a soup kitchen, Habitat, assist an elderly couple. There are many things. Most just have to do with giving back to the community, and helping everyone, especially those less fortunate then you. Also, just would like to mention, it's great that you want to become a stronger Christian.

Sounds like you are doing great!! There are many books you can take a look at. I personally enjoy writings by Josh McDowell
He had a series called "Evidence that Demands a Verdict"
As you work more with your church I am sure you will find what God wants you to do. Perhaps he will have you go somewhere and help people, or lead a home study or something.
Good Luck in whatever you do.

U should talk to God and let Him touch your heart. I think that's the most important thing. He will direct u towards the path you need to follow. I agree with working for your church. My pastor always says the harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few. And, of course read your Bible. Good luck on your journey, never give up...

Make the knowledge of God Your Own! Read the Bible in an Undertone Day and Night. Keep All of God's commandments. Fear displeasing God rather and fearing consequence of action (sin). And love God with your whole soul, mind, and emotion. Love your neighbor as your self. Put nothing above God! And feed his 'sheep'.

2Corinthians 13:5 says:
"Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?"

Jesus gave us all power through the Holy Spirit to become perfect... otherwise He wouldn't have commanded us to be perfect! (See Matthew 5:48)

Jesus also said, "If you love Me, keep my Commandments."

Remember to always follow Him out of Love. Regularly hold yourself up to what the Bible says that we should be doing. BUT DON'T BE DISCOURAGED IF YOU FAIL! Jesus gave us the power to overcome sin with the help of the Holy Spirit. Claim that promise!

It's not so much important what you read... it's how you read. It's a good idea to come up with an organized reading plan. For example, you can read a chapter from one of the minor prophets of the Old Testament in the morning, and read parables of Jesus in the evening.

It's also good to read corresponding books together. For example, the Old Testament book of Daniel opens your eyes to a lot of what all of the beasts and symbols of the book of Revelation mean.

Congratulations on your new walk!
