I am for it. It only applies to the illegal immigrants as far as I can see.

I don't understand how when people speak about illegal aliens as a whole, pro-illegal groups have to focus on the Hispanic Illegals. Laws don't target Hispanics in general, they just happen to be the most amount of illegals in the US. If it was Pakistanis that were the most abundant illegals in the US then the argument would be twisted in that direction.

The point is to make it harder for illegal aliens to survive in the US, no matter where they came from, and this is a good thing. It will, hopefully, discourage other people from entering illegally. There is a very good reason why there is a limit on the number of people we allow legally each year to enter this country, because our resources can handle only so much without crumbling.

I applaud Gov Henry.Its a great start.Get it done !

The Oklahoma bill builds on measures passed by other states but has a stronger focus on deterring unauthorized employment, he said.

“It lays the foundations for state and local action in a very broad scope of public activities,” Hethmon said.

The legislation addresses the root cause of illegal immigration — exploitation of illegal immigrant labor, he said. Among other things, the bill contains employment, labor law and civil rights provisions to protect citizens and legal immigrants who lose their jobs at companies that employ illegal immigrants to perform the same or similar work.

“Stealing American jobs is now a civil rights violation in Oklahoma,” Hethmon said.

The measure targets employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens in order to gain a competitive advantage. Key elements of the bill focus on determining worker eligibility, including technology called the Basic Pilot program, which screens Social Security numbers to make sure they are real and that they match up with the person’s name.

For your piece of mind Linda L
***The measure would not affect emergency medical and humanitarian services, such as visits to hospital emergency rooms and enrollment in public schools, that are required by federal law.***

the compassionate side of me worries about those denied hospital treatment. That might create a new wave of problems.

The enforcing employers abide by the laws, I agree with 100 percent.

It's a catch 22 with me and conflicting when it comes to how hospitals feel over burdened but I don't think hospital employees should be packed and overwhelmed. If someone is seriously hurt and about to die, I don't care if they are illegal or not, that person needs help. I'd say in emergency situations, treat that person. In non emergency situations such as the flu, a cold, headaches (that sort of thing), say sorry can't help you unless they can pay for it up front.

Hospitals, clinics and dentists in general depend so much on insurance anyway that your average worker can't even afford to pay out of pocket.

There's going to have to be alot of revamping to consider.

Hospitals and clinics need an out of pocket program that is affordable for those who aren't lucky enough to have insurance. This would help out everyone.

I know I'm very anti-illegal immigrant as far as our rights as citizens but when it comes to life and death situations, that's when i have to set aside my passionate protesting against the injustices done to citizens and be compassionate about the human being regardless of status.
