if he does an ok job than let him do it, he is declaring his independance and he deserves for you to give it to him, i fyou are concerned about the cleanliness of it,,, buy the flushable wet wipes like "can do's" there are several on the market.
My son did an ok job too, but he did the same thing, wanting to do it himself, so i bought those and they work great!!! They turn his attempt from an "ok job" to a very clean job...
they can get pricey,,, but i still buy them they are well worth it!
DONT USE WET WIPES OR DIAPER WIPES, they will clog the toliet and possible back up your septic system!
hope this helps

I'm just wondering how she knows that you were helping your daughter wipe herself you could have been in there with her just so she's not alone b/c there are so many perverts in this world .I would have been suspicious of this lady, that does not sound right.I would have made a scene, she has no right telling you what you should do with your child. Some kids are not even potty trained at that young of an age .Obviously this woman has mental issues ,she should not be peeping around public washrooms in my opinion!!!

buy the moist wipes so he can do a good job. My daughter wipes her own self ever since she started potty training and I just do a quick check to be sure she did a good job. the moist wipes are really good I think it's called Kandoo

Buy the "Big Boy" flushable wipes. This way he can do it himself and you feel better about whether or not he is doing a good job.

I would let him do it, but make sure you let him know you are available if he needs help. I have a 5 year old who still needs help on occasion. Also, once they go to school, you want to make sure they are wiping well because believe me, there was a little one in my oldest child's kindergarten who always smelled bad and all the children picked on her, and it was because she never wiped well!

Get those moist wipes (found in the toilet paper aisle) that are flushable. That's what we us, they are gentleler, you only need one or two, and they clean much better than regular toilet paper. I don't remember how old my daughter was when she was wiping herself. I've been using the moist wipes for poop for years.

if she goes on her potty it's her job if she goes in her diaper it's my job
if she poops in the potty i get her a wet wipe instead of just toilet paper and it works better that way but she still controls it
