They changed their name too,now they're Chabad, active on campuses everything. Story now is Rabbi Shleeman was only considered the messiah by a "certain element",and then they chuckle indulgently. It was really just the older members, you see. They've also switched from those dinky bowler hats to these big wide-brimmed fedoras, and between that & the Burly Build they emphasize they look like Al Capone. How do you go from claiming your Main Man is God to going respectable in ten years flat? I mean,Senor Bush is nuts about these guys. Any background dope on this?

um your info is a little of.

First Chabad and Lubavitch are two names for the same group of Hasidic Jews.

Second it is only been a loud fringe group of Lubavichers that claim that Rabbi Schneerson is the messiah.

It never was the majority. While a majority might be sympathetic that is another matter.

also they have always worn those wide-brimmed fedoras... you must be confusing them with another group.

lastly where on Earth did you hear that Bush senor likes or even cares about Chabad?

Considering the fact that I live in Houston and I know most of the Chabad Rabbi's here I am sure I would know if he was even remotely interested.

I don't know where you're getting your information, but you really should chill out.

First of all, Lubavitch Chabad was always their full name. Sometimes they go by Lubavitch, sometimes just Chabad. Around here we call them Chabadniks. And some (a minority of their group) still believe the Rebbe is the Messiah.

lol. i agree that its stupid that some of them believe that he was the messiah. obviously he was not the messiah. but i can guarantee you that not a single one of them ever believed him to be G-d. its christianity who turned their messiah into a god. no jew would ever deify a human being, and so in judaism, the messiah is nothing more than a human man who will be a great world leader. so what if some of them believed him to be that man? people are allowed to have wrong opinions, its not a crime.
