Denying the existence of God, when it it clear through reason and logic that God exists ("only a fool says in his heart there is no God") is a sin against the first commandment. "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." To reject God is to imbue 'matter' with all the creative powers and attributes of God, so 'matter' is the atheist's god.
This is clearly a false god because matter certainly cannot create anything, it is not eternal. According to the law of cause and effect which governs all matter, it must have had a cause or creator, and that cause must have not been subject to the law of cause and effect, i.e. not material, but supernatural.
Because there is information in the material universe, and matter cannot create information, this can only come from an intelligent source, the Supernatural First Cause must also be intelligent. This is God, It's that simple!

OK I gave you a stupid [But funny] Answer on your last comment. I gave you a stupid [But funny] answer, because you didn't give a very nice question. If you'd just asked nicely...
But I will give you an honest answer on this one.
First off.. a philanthro- what?
I don't believe in Hell like most Christians do. Since it is only mentioned in Rev., along with Judgement Day, I think you'll only go to Hell if you live past that day, in those fatal last 7 years, and still fail to still accept Jesus.
Jesus DID mention an alternative route. You soud like a smart man. You're just misinformed. Unless you die unsaved after Judgement Day, you're going to just spend an eternity of sleep in your coffin. OK?
The choice is yours. I personally see you finding Him in the near future though. peAce be with you, and God BLess.

Heaven and hell are scriptural concepts from the Torah and the Bible.
The Torah promotes faith in God, and the New Testament promotes faith in Jesus Christ. (Christians believing that the God of the Old and New Testaments is Jesus Christ.)
Therefore, eternal life cannot be acquired by a means other than what is specified in the Bible. The Bible says salvation is by grace through faith, NOT by works (not even the great works of wealthy philanthropists, OR kind deeds like Mother Theresa's.).

Shall I
asnwer the question or address the rant? Hmmm. Ok,I'll do the question.
In Judaism philanthophy buys salvation, although the terminology differs. In Christianity, money is not accepted as a substitute for faith. By the way,do you always snarl & rave like this?

Yes, you can be thrown into the Pit because we are not saved by works but by faith. I think you're over-simplyfing the whole deal, my friend.
Ephesians 1:11 tells us: In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will...
John 3:16 says: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life...
And 1 John 4:10 goes on to say: This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
John 10:9 continues: I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and find pasture.
And finally, Acts 16:30-32 reads: ..."Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household."
The mere fact that you are a philanthropist indicates a caring and compassionate spirit. This does not happen by osmosis...this is a gift of grace bestowed on you by God. Your role in this Journey we know as LIFE is not an accident but has been predestined by God to serve a purpose. Whoever believes in the Son of God, our Lord Jesus Christ will be saved. Not by what you do, what you give, how generous you are, but because you believe that Jesus Christ is the only Son of the Living God and you profess him as such.
God and His ways should not be a DRIVING force but rather, God should be a DRAWING force. The fact that you are questioning this issue tells me that the Spirit of God is calling you. Whether you decide to heed the call is up to you. For many people, especially males, it is very difficult for them to follow because their pride will not allow them to be submissive to a Love and a Plan so grand that it is beyond belief. Truly though, you will never know a Peace like that of resting in the Love of our God.
God bless you, my friend. I will pray that you will find your way and that you will set aside the pride that leads many of us down the road of destruction.
--Know Christ, Know Peace. No Christ, No Peace.--

Hell is your choice, not God's.
Heaven is an eternity of relationship with God.
Everyone who refuses relationship with God on His terms gets what they asked for--freedom from His Presence. That absence of God is hell.
Here on earth, even though you may not be in relationship with God, you have His Presence all around you through all that He has created: people, animals, nature, are all little windows into the heart and mind of a creative and loving God.
Hell will not have any part of God. His absence will be complete. Hell is eternal separation from God and all the goodness that comes from God.
When you reject God, He accepts your rejection. God is a God of love, and love requires freedom of choice. You cannot force some one to love you--that wouldn't be love, would it? So God gives all people the freedom to choose to love Him or reject Him.
He gives you the chance to choose relationship with Him as long as you have breath. Then He allows you to have what you have chosen for all eternity. The isolation from God and from God's creation is hell. It is a prison of your own choice. God does not want that for you.
It is never too late to turn to Him. "There is no fear in love, for fear has to do with punishment; but perfect love casts out all fear." God loves you enough to die for you. He has made an incredible gift of eternal life available to you. He is good through and through. Heaven is too good to miss out on--I hope to see you there!
May the God who loves you greatly bless you more and more in the true knowledge of Him, in your heart as well as your mind. God is good!

No, it is not according to Christians. It is according to the word of God, the bible.
Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father, but by me".
"For it is by grace we are saved, through faith, not by works, that any man should boast".
Please try not to be so angry. These are words from God. Christians just believe them and care about other people's eternal destination.

According to some Christians, who fancy that they know the mind of the universe's creator, God doesn't care whether you're a good and giving person. He only cares whether you are willing to close your eyes and be led through life by the ghost of a two-thousand year old dead carpenter from the Middle East.

GOD created man, not the other way around! what arrogance for man to tell his CREATOR what the rules are or are not! if GOD were more like the gods that man created, spiteful, mischievous, etc...HE would STILL have THE RIGHT to determine who pleases HIM and who does not, by HIS OWN STANDARDS, NOT MANS. so when GOD says "accept ME or burn"...who are we to to gainsay HIM? at least HE gives us a choice!
