Some people follow a religion fanatically, without allowing themselves to read other scriptures, or research other cultures. They firmly believe that people whom take a non literal translation of their holy book (or critisize the orthodox interpretation in some way) are their enemies. Such people have been around since the dawn of time and have facilitated such suppressions as; the crucifixion of Jesus, the killing of James the Just, the murder of the templars and cathars, and the inquisitions. Such religious intollerance for alternative point of view has destroyed many schools of christianity and other religions also. Some religious people hate that which they don't understand, or fear. Other religious people are tollerant and do not hate.

I'm kinda religious and I like reason!

Reason is quite overrated.
Evidence? Look at the world around you! It is rigidly rational?

No. So why should reason be the one and only mode of thinking and being?

There's a lot more to reality than dualistic, exlusionary logic.

Like one before me said-
i love reason when it's based on the truth. Otherwise, it's not reason to me.

and im not religious. I am a Christian who has a RELATIONSHIP with Christ. Christianity is NOT, by far, a religion.

Jewish persecution is going back so a ideas because the thirteenth century, even per chance further. some say it became because they "killed Christ", even even with the truth that Jesus became also a Jew, yet i imagine it really is merely lack of understand-how, and the choose for a scapegoat. In Poland, they persisted to arrest and kill Jews even after the Germans retreated. in my opinion, merely about all the Jewish human beings i understand are extremely respectable, and if I were ever compelled to come back to a decision an Abrahamic faith, i ought to honestly %. Judaism. they look the in hassle-free words ones who truly prepare what they pontificate.

If you were the one who came up with the idea of god and all the little thingys religion usually refer to... would you be happy if some other dude came and destroyed your creation by proclaiming the facts of evolution for example...? Probably not.

People can get so stuck to ideas, principles and believes that just about everything else sounds like horse poo in their ears.

they're not perfect; they only want YOU to be, and so reasoning as to the validity of biblical verse and criticism of religion is not being perfect in their eyes. If you don't believe their rubbish, then you're going to hell. Fact is, such muell has historically been used to keep the common man in place and blindly obedient to those who were leaders, so that they may remain in postions of leadership and not be challenged.

whoa that is one sweeping generalization!!!! Might help to get real answers or opinions if you keep that in check... otherwise you get one side saying they hate you and one side rooting you on, but no answers to anything... I am absolutely sure you do not know all religious people or you would see the limited view your question shares with everyone... perhaps this will help, perhaps it will not, but let me know if spreading hate helps the cause, please.

Thats a generalization. And what REASON are you talking about? If your question was more specific you might get an actual answer. Unless you really don't want an honest answer?

Perhaps being 'reason'able at least in the beginning, is why the word of God is disobeyed blanantly inUSA presently. Further, perhaps that also leads to the beast in Rev. 17 being the USA.
