find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Cut out fried foods, no junk, NO fast food. WALK or treadmill at least 4 days a week or bout 30 mins at a good speed..not a run. You can fast walk with just as good a result! DRINK water. Washes out the impurities. You will lose it for sure! 10 lbs is EASY to lose in 2 months if you do what I said. I lost 12 in 5 weeks that way! AND to JEFFYB, above this comment.>WALKING IS BEST at ANY age!! Don't be dumb!

Limit yourself to 1400 calories a day and exercise at least 3 days a week for a minimum of 30 minutes. The pounds will melt off. Good luck.

In complete seriousness, competitive swimming. As a swimmer, I would lose most of my body fat in 2 weeks of long distance training and began gaining weight (muscle) in about 3 when we would start getting into practicing sprints.
But it hurts really bad and its boring as hell and you can't make any excuses to yourself or be lazy at all so.. iono, bike ride or run if you're a chicken.

Cut out sweets and fried foods, and exercise daily for at least 20-30 minutes (walking doesn't count unless you're over 50).
