Those who are in the wedding should already have some idea that there is going to be a rehearsal BEFORE the wedding, but you don't want to leave it too late. I say within the next couple weeks. If you are expecting them to reply to this function, I say you better get them out tonight as they need time to get them back to you. Good Luck and have fun!

Right now! Rehearsal dinner invitations should be mailed out 4 - 6 weeks in advance of the party. The invitation should also have a RSVP so you know how many people are attending and how many dinners to order (if you are having the dinner at a restaurant that requires a head count at least seven days in advance). Etiquette: the Bride and Groom really shouldn't HOST their own Rehearsal Dinner. If the Groom's parents cannot host the party then it should be hosted by a family friend or a close relative of the Bride or Groom. I would say give them 2 to 3 weeks notice. As someone else said, most of the people attending will have an idea of when and where, but it is still nice to send invites. I also included directions to the church for the rehearsal and from the church to the restaurant.

Unless you really want to be that formal or there's specific info that you don't want to tell people yourself (ie only certain entrees will be available to them on the menu) then the rehearsal dinner is only the bridal party and your parents and possibly your clergy, so do you really need to send invitations? If you do, then you would send them to arrive at least 2 weeks before the event. a little more if you expect an RSVP

I never heard of sending invites for this. Your bridal party should know when the rehearsal is, and you should be telling them about dinner plans...I don't believe a written invite is required for this.

I would mail them so they arrive about 2 weeks before the dinner.

You need to do it now--a month before the wedding.
