The ring should represent the marriage and she should be happy with that. Just imagine what your marriage will be like. Nothing will ever be good enough for her. Don't get me wrong. We like diamonds. We like the ring to represent that we are worth it. But that's going a little above and beyond. 55,000 could be a down payment on the marital house. All she cares about is money. Dump her.

WTH!!!!!!!!! $55,000 FOR A RING?????? THAT COULD BUY A CAR!! OMGOODNESS! NO an expensive engagement ring is NOT important!!!!! As long as it is a ring that you give from your heart thats the important thing!!!!!!! I say the most anybody should spend on an engagement ring is $2,000 AT THE MOST of course if the guy can afford it. How about YOU BUY WHATS IN YOUR BUDGET and if she isnt happy with the ring then that will say a lot.

It's not important to every girl, but it's clearly important to your girl. If I were you, I would find that disturbing. Why is it important that it be so large? And from Tiffany's? It sounds like she has issues around money. If you want to buy her a ring, you can go to the jeweler by yourself and pick out some rings that fit your budget. Then you can bring her to the jeweler and ask that they show her the rings you've selected. If none of them will do and she insists it has to be a certain size from Tiffany's, you need to get her alone and ask which is more important, the ring or you. I think her answer will tell you everything you need to know.

Wow talk about being a gold digger, I am a man and I never felt more honest about telling another guy...LEAVE HER NOW! Dont waste your time because it starts with a $55,000 engagement ring, then $100,000 wedding ring, $500,000 house and oh yeah cant forget the $100,000 mercedes she will want to hold her ring out the window while she drives. When a women demands what type of ring she wants that is a sure sign of you being used for finances.

Explain to your gf that you cannot afford the ring she specifies, but would be happy to get her something else and she can help choose. If she doesn't go for that, then that should be a BIG RED FLAG that she is into material things...you know, THINGS you can give her rather than LOVE you can give her. It is almost as though she is equating your love with how much you are willing to spend on her. NOT a good thing. If she really loved you, she would take a nice ring within your $$ means.

Unless you make $300,000 a year that is an absurd amount to spend on a ring. You shouldn't be spending more money than you can afford.

no, she should think twice, because it's the thought that counts, and she sould be happy with or without a fancy ring.
