On Saturday I purchased Gilded Tarot by Ciro Marchetti along with the book Easy Tarot. Does tarot really work or did I just waste my money?

Pay no attention to the one word or single sentence answers.
The truth is that Tarot does work, but it takes practice.
Lots of practice if you want to read the cards without having to look up the meanings in the book. Then again, if you have a good imagination, you can look at the pictures and see the story they tell.
I have been reading tarot for 15 years and I have found that it is an ever evolving learning experience.
You don't have to memorize the cards meanings to get a reading that is acurate. When I started learning the cards I did 'book' readings for the first two years. By doing that it all soaked in. I have had some really amazing moments with tarot.
You did not waste your money, if anything, you have invested in keeping your sanity. Tarot is a wonderful tool to help us see things that we would not normally with our usual thought process.

If you want them to work then they will. Myself, I know better. I messed with that stuff when I was 7 and stopped when it dawned on me that I am in control . No matter what , I decide my own future and sure can't tell anybody Else's future with or without tarot cards. The original use of pictures ( tarot cards ) was after God cast down the tower of babel and gave mankind different languages. That was how we communicated with each other back in that time......A bunch of yo-yo's got together and saw that they could use the cards to manipulate a situation and you know about the rest of the story

If you felt obligated to buy them then they will work for you.
Do not lend them out to anyone they are a personal item.
Your tarot book probably already said that huh?
They are not a waste of money however they do not show the future how you think they might.
they show possibilities and you are the one who allowes it to happen.

It depends on how you would like to use your cards. If you are not that serious about the tarot then they will not work.
I use mine for guidance and an occasional quick glance into one of many futures to see what path lay ahead.

they work for some people, for me, i have an aliester crowley thoth deck and ive never had a reading be wrong. if your looking for yes or no awnsers, than i suggest useing a pendulem ( not expensive and works great).
i for one am sick of all the people who say stuff like " phychic's are the work of satan" its just a load of crap and religion has nothing to do with tarot, as long as you belive in them, they work.

I suspect that Tarot act as a Focus for the reader like a Crystal does. The reader works through a good Deck because it allows them to focus their energies betters

No they don't work, but you didn't waste your money. Reading the Tarot is a great way to help use the symbolism to focus on a problem from a different angle than your normal perspective and help you to find a solution in a way that you might not have otherwise considered. There is no magic in them though.

What do you expect out of them?
They're not going to tell you the future, or how you should run your life. They provide possible interpretations for questions one might ask.
Personally, I am far more fond of oracle cards, but that's just me.
