For example is 27 and 42 too much of a difference?

If both of you have an agreement it shouldn't matter. I am dating someone 19 years older than me. I am pretty much in love with him. Make sure he love you for you unconditional love. If he can't respect you he don't deserve you. Don't make no mistake that you will have to live with.

I'm 22, and I recently dated a 30-year-old who'd been engaged before and had a 3-year-old son by his ex-fiancee. It wasn't our age difference that was the problem...it was our gap in life experiences. We were just at very different places in life, so it didn't work out.

I think that age difference matters most when you're young: for example, I wouldn't date anyone over 30 at this point in my life, because we'd be too different. I'm just out of school and starting my working life, so it's harder for me to relate to people who are a lot older than me. I think that when you're 30+, however, it changes...I don't think that a 30-year-old dating a 45-year-old is that weird, nor is a 50-year-old dating a 70-year-old.

My honest opinion is that there are no rules re: age. There are some same-age couples who are a terrible match, and there are couples with 30-year age differences who are insanely happy. An age difference should never stand in the way of true love. :)

Between consenting adults, age is just a number. The details comes down to personal preference of course, some folks just dont like people that are much older/younger. But there's nothing wrong with dating someone older. Love is blind, yadda yadda yadda.

yes of course, im 15 1/2 but it doesnt mean i shouldnt go out with someone that is at least 3 years older then i am...20-30 year olds and older is pretty pathetic to me...then it would make the person look like there dad instead of there boyfriend....got it?good...

Not to me. There is the concern of the two people being at different stages in life, especially if the younger one doesn't have children yet.

If either one of you is uncomfortable with the age difference, then it's too much. If you are both comfortable with it, you're fine.

I am in a relationship with a 5 year difference, maybe because I am the older one, it does bother me sometimes.
I guess it depends on how you feel, everyone else should mind their own business.

But as long as your both are into each other and (legal age-A must). Who says who can date who.

Best to all.
