Anytime as cat limps get it checked out. Normally cats try to disquise pain, so if the cat is showing pain it must hurt pretty bad. It could be a fracture and if it grows back the wrong way the cat could be in pain for the rest of its life!

It sounds just like what my 8 year old kitty has just been through and is going through. He got bitten by another cat on his front right paw and like yours it swelled to over twice the normal size very quickly because it was full of pus. You should be able to see where the entry wound(s) were if you look closely, but it may well be hidden under the fur and they have likely healed over by now (cats heal skin breaks very quickly) which is why it is swolen (trapping the pus inside). Bite marks can be very hard to spot especially in cats with longer fur.
If it is an infected bite it won't heal on it's own unless it drains at least; It needs shaving around the general area to stop fur getting trapped in the wound and then lancing and draining, then thoroughly washing out and then kept open while washing regularly to drain the infection completely along with anti-biotics and pain meds.
If it is an infected bite, there is also a chance that the infection could spread from his leg if it isn't seen to.
I wish you and your kitty all the best and a speedy recovery :)

Perhaps your cat sprained it's leg or ankle? Even if he is showing improvement, I would still have the vet take a look at him. It will give you and kitty a peace of mind. Hopefully it's nothing serious. Good luck!

No, that sounds pretty bad. I'd take the cat right away to the vet. There are even some 24-hour emergency vet clinics. It sounds like it could be serious, so get him to the vet ASAP!

No. take him to a vet, something is wrong, could have a fracture or some thing bite him. Don't wait, infection could set in then there will be a bigger problem. It doesn't swell for no reason, something happened.

Take him to the vet! He may have injured his leg or he may have been bitten by something outside. Your vet will be able to help, but it's important to take him immediately before it gets worse or he hurts himself further.

hmmmm, you've fallen and broken your leg, do you suppose you would wait to see if it heals on its own? Good grief, take the poor suffering animal to the vet.

no you should not leave it. it could be a fracture and if you leave it it will not heal properly and it could get infected.
