I guess I only need to replace the left crank(that is the one that is stripped.Once that is changed,I jsut need to put the peddle on.Not sure where to begin and if I need a special tool.At least I do not have to mess with the chain.

If you are inexperienced with bike repair, I definitely would not recommend taking off the cranks for a replacement. Unfortunately, you probably don't have the right tools and acquiring them might cost you more than the actual repair at a bike shop would. Bring it to a bike shop and explain the situation. You might be surprised at their good nature and understanding. What part of the country do you live in?

Yes go to parktools.com/repair. I believe that is right it is in parktool I do know that. it is called calvin's coner. used this sight myself for a bottom bracket prob.
If you can't get help there go to your public library. They have many books on fixem ups. You will need some tools . Check out the sources. Then again there are enough bike mechanic's here to tell you what to do. Hope this helps. Kep o ridn...

Depending on the type of bottom bracket you have , you might need different tools . Best bet would be to bring it to a bike shop to help you with this . You might unintentionally damaged some parts or even injure yourself .

Take it to a bike shop. Safety is an issue here.

i could fix that easy. just look at it for a while and see how things come off and how they would go back on, then give it a try. Its just a bike, cant be that hard.
