I erupted in Psoriasis at the age of 16 and still have it now almost 49 years old. As to the cause, well their are five types of Psoriasis, some are caused by sore throat, others stress, mind, well the badness had to come out somewhere. I am youngest of four sibling and neither of my Parents or Siblings have Psoriasis. Nearest relative is a Paternal Great Uncle, so am unsure about any genetic link. Having said that you may carry a gene, but you need to be exposed to the trigger and if they knew what caused Psoriasis, reckon I would not still have it after 33 years. I also have Arthritis but test positive to a high titer for the Rheumatoid Factor, so am one of the very few who have Psoriasis and Rheumatoid Arthritis. The best thing I found after 33 years evening primrose oil, both for the skin and the joints. Likewise try not to use your elbows to 'rest' on, as this will not help.

i have that in my elbow just like you and it itches and i have been prescribed daktacort steroid cream from the doctor for it and it helps to clear it up. I was also given E45 but unfortunately E45 does not work on it and it makes it worse then what it was and mine has been made worse by using E45. So i went back to the Doctors and then he has prescribed steroid based cream every since for the psorisis on my elbow.
I have suffered with psorisis for three years now and the steroid cream i use is meant to be kept in the fridge to be kept at a temperature of 2oc to -8oc so that the daktacort works on the elbow.

The elbows and knees are among the commonest sites for psoriasis. Though it can affect skin virtually anywhere it fortunately usually spares the face.

Psoriasis is fundamentally an inflammatory skin condition, the inflammatory mechanisms are immune based, and most likely initiated and maintained primarily by T cells in the dermis. The condition has a strong genetic basis.

in psoriasis your skin grows too quickly which causes the itchy patches. You need a dermatologist to take a scrape sample to get a confirmed diagnosis. My gp thought that I had psoriasis just because my Mum and brother has it. Turned out to be something else. So go get a diagnosis and a proper treatment plan!

It is a skin disease, like eczema and so on. Need to go to the doctor. Needs to be treated. My hubby has it badly all over his body and has done for many years. Sunlight and sun beds are good, as is various steroid creams.

it can be linked to arthritis, my mother has psoriatic arthritis which she got in her 30s. it started off with flaky skin and psoriasis then she developed arthritis. i believe psoriaris is usually a response to stress and a very small percentage develop the arthritis
