Yep I did go read it and yes I can see how Father was joking around about it being a "soap opera"

Well, the husband of a sexy (yet virtuous) girl dies and she sets off with her sweet old mother-in-law to a brand new land where everyone thinks she's just the sexiest new girl on the block, and eventually she snags the richest guy in town to be her new hubbie, so I guess it is kinda soap opera-ish.

The book of Ruth is not a biblical soap opera. It is the story of a young woman that loses her husband and decides to stay with her mother-in-law instead of returning to her family. God honors her by giving her a new husband.

Why don't you first ask:

Is this true?

Its only four chapters long, read it yourself.
