they either read the Bible cover to cover, or studied it extensively. I was just wondering what were their findings, that caused this conversion? Seriously, please.

Thanks.

Try reading the bible cover to cover, and read carefully/critically. You'll notice that it's absurd, violent, and ridiculous. In the bible talking donkeys and unicorns are real creatures, and God is the most unpleasant, nasty, malicious and evil character in all of viction - making Darth Vader look like a saint. He murders children constantly, he orders every man, woman, child and animal who's not a jew killed. He is incredibly jealous and spiteful. In fact, people have counted and god kills over 2 million people in the bible (Satan only kills 10). Also did you know the bible says you have to kill your children if they're disobedient? This is so important that it's mentioned 5 times! Twice in the new testament (Mark 7:9-10 is one example as I recall)!

Oh and eating shrimp or lobster is an abomination, women are inherently sinful and touching a woman (or even touching something she's touched) when she's on her period makes you unclean. You must kill all nonbelievers (no question) and even your own family. Hey, here's a nice passage:

"If your brother, the son of your father or of your mother, or your son or daughter, or the spouse whom you embrace, or your most intimate friend, tries to secretly seduce you, saying, “Let us go and serve other gods,” unknown to you or your ancestors before you, gods of the peoples surrounding you, whether near you or far away, anywhere throughout the world, you must not consent, you must not listen to him; you must show him no pity, you must not spare him or conceal his guilt. No, you must kill him, your hand must strike the first blow in putting him to death and the hands of the rest of the people following. You must stone him to death, since he has tried to divert you from Yahweh your God... "(Deuteronomy 13:7–11)

And so on. It's utterly unbelievable. Read the whole thing, go for it. Seriously. It will change your life.

My doubting started when I was about 5 years old when I was just being taught the bible stories and how to pray...I couldn't wrap my mind around the notion that an invisible man lived in the sky and could see everything we did and hear every word we spoke or every thought we had....I read the bible the first time at age 12, then again at 20, then again at 24...I read and studied the bible extensively over the years trying to make sense of it all and trying very hard to believe....I became an atheist at age 25 when I was finally able to let go of the idea that any sort of god existed...and believe me...I looked EVERYWHERE for some sign of the existence of any deity.....

Yes, and I still can't figure out why other christians won't do the same.

1. Herod died 4 years before Christ was born (there goes that story).
2. The exodus never happened.
3. The bible is a conglomeration of several works by several writers, the origins of which have been greatly exaggerated.
4. The earliest Christians did not know that Jesus was supposed to be divine. They just thought he was a good teacher with some very good Anti-Religious advice on how to live your life.

There's more, but it would take forever to explain. I'm sure you're more than capable of searching for yourself. "The Laughing Jesus" is a good start. The Egyptian "Book of the Dead" will show you that things that people think are original to Judaeism really AREN'T.

Actually, I was a Christian who became Atheist after I read the Bible and studied Science.

The part that got me was in Genesis, when God punished all women with labor pain because Eve ate a piece of fruit.

Compassionate, isn't it?

I'm a female with a brain and the willingness to use it, and I objected. The bible is a work of fiction created by men.

I've read the Bible cover to cover and yes, I was once a Christian. My finding was that the deity described within was logically impossible.

There were too many questions whose only answer was "because the Bible says so" or "God did it and that's enough of an explanation because it's God".

I think "Because I said so" is a poor explanation, whether it's in religion or in parenting.

Talking donkeys? Jesus guy walking on water? People coming back from the dead? God killing peoples' children because Pharaoh didn't do as he said? Homosexuality is bad? God cares who you have sex with? And you'll burn in hell for eternity if you don't do it all just right?

Sorry, none of that makes sense to me.
