God won't help you. He doesn't exist. Verses from old books won't help you.
Generally, these types of problems require professional help. Depression can be fatal and might be helped through various treatments. That might also help your self-esteem and alcohol problems. Such problems tend to be related.
If you need a place to start, try the link below. Yes, I know you only asked for Christian answers, but I think you need more than talimans and superstition.

Please don't do anything drastic or listen to the insensitive responses you get. You are loved by God and can beat this thing. I suggest you get professional help right away. Depression tricks your mind into believing things are hopeless and you need to be with folks who can look realistically at the situation on your behalf. I know all about depression. It's like you're in a deep pit and can not find a way out. You'll never make it out on your own. You need some help out of that dark hole. Your doctor should be able to get you the right help and may even get you medication that will change everything. As for as the alcohol problems, that will take rehab. You are worth the effort, but it is a choice only you can make. Once you begin to turn around and head the right way, your self esteem should return. I pray you will take this advice and I hope you find peace and self worth. May God help you to find the strength and courage to ask for help. God bless and keep you.

The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.

God loves you and so does His Son. Your personal value is measured by the infinite value of the sacrifice that both God and Christ have made for your eternal joy.
If there were no one else to show you or to tell you, it would still be true. You are child of the heavenly King. Turn your eyes upon the beauty of the character of Christ.
Look here for a glimpse of what God has in store for every Christian and be encouraged...

Ask God to pour out His grace upon you so that you will be able to conquer depression and alcoholism. This will increase your self-esteem. God is waiting to strengthen you to overcome all character weaknesses.
No true prayer for victory over oneself is ever denied by God. Nor is the answer to that prayer delayed.
1. Cooperate with God and start showing the sincerity of your desire to be free from these things by getting rid of any alcohol that is in your immediate presence.
2. 1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God [is] faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear [it].
3. Do not be discouraged. Do not give up. Do trust God.

I know it may be tough to hear...but, you have got to get over yourself....
Have you ever been to a children's hospital? Imagine the innocent children there with all of their pain and health issues...imagine the grief those parents must feel seeing their child suffer so...and not knowing what their future holds.
Those children have done nothing wrong...but yet, they suffer...
Now...do you really have it so bad? You are in control of your own life.....for self esteem issues...get off the couch, go to the gym, go for a run...do something active to make yourself feel better about yourself...also, the endorphines are a good natural high...depression...maybe you need to work a little harder...volunteer at a food bank, do something positive with your time...alcohol problems...again...occupy your time with something a little more positive...give yourself something to look forward to.
It is up to you...no one can give you a magic pill...our world wants an easy fix...but, life is not easy...but, all of the roller coasters is living....
Again, you have the power within yourself...no one can give you the power....so, buck up young man. It is within you.

Read Romans 7 and on into 8... I think you might find some strength there... I know where you are coming from... I battle depression and the rest... I gave up the booze a long time ago but battling the mind(the inner man) is a constant thing.... get involved in a good Bible study group... stay in the word and it will keep your soul occupied... I'm saying a prayer for you brother.
Here is a link to my website. This got started for much the same reasons you cite. Keeps me occupied http://www.mikesfaith.com

DON'T GIVE UP!!!!!! No matter what other people may say, there is a God and he loves you. You don't have to get better on your own to be good enough for Him. He will take you as you are and help you to be what He wants you to be. Sounds like you need some tangible support as well. Don't be afraid to go to a good church and ask the pastor for help. If he can't help you he should be able to tell you where to find it.
"Ask and it shall be given unto you, Seek and ye shall find. Knock and the door shall be opened unto you" Matthew 7:7
Seek support. No of us can do this alone.

Ryan, do you have a good bible teaching church you go to? There is only one solution to the oppression of satan (and don't think that these things coming against you don't have root in him), and that is immersing yourself in the things of God. Fellowship with other believers, prayer, ardent and devoted bible study. God's word is what you can take into yourself that He uses as material to remake you into the person He would have you be. The bible says, if you sow to the spirit, you will reap spiritual rewards. If you sow to the flesh, you will reap of the flesh. Get into the bible and have people pray for you and hold you accountable. These things, if done consistently, will transform your life because that is what Jesus does. He transforms lives. I pray that God will put your mind and heart and feet on a righteous path, and by the power of His love for you, keep you there.

I think the band Third Day explains this very well,
"For the ones who can't break the addictions and chains
you try to give up but you come back again.
Just remember that you're not alone
in your shame and your suffering."
Jesus went through all the same temptations as you, so when you're at the end of your own rope, just call out to him with a humble heart. I would encourage you to find someone spiritually rooted who can pray with you too.

well not a verse but a song helped me. Third Day.."Cry out to Jesus"
You can pray to GOD for some relief of your pain, but the solution lies in you. I know it sounds dumb, but when I was down to my last care in the world, I had to tell myself I wouldn't be held down by my pain. I had to make the choice to try and be happy. It doesn't happen all in one day, but being around supportive people who won't get you to drink etc. are the best. A support group will do wonders. But believe when I say just because you don't feel great in one day doesn't mean you won't some day. Don't give in to the depression.

it's a wise decision to go to God for help. I can't give you the actual scriptures, but here's some Biblical advice:
1) if you know you have a problem, confess it and seek the help of someone who has been through those problems, or who has a good enough relationship with God to know what to do.
2) addictions are hard to overcome but not impossible. I suggest you fast: not neccessarily food, but with what your addiction is. Abstaining is hard, but often a good method. Also try replacing that habit with a better one or consulting those who have expertice in that field (see your doctor)
3) know that living for God is always worth the living. maybe even try some self-guilt-trips. i.e.: there are millions of those whom I'm better off than, so why should I complain so much? but know that God has a plan for you but it'll only work if you go along with it. God seeks your highest good, so it's a very good idea to listen to Him.
hope that helps!
