You may look like a monkey my friend but I dont.
Thankfully we are all beautiful in God's eyes and
thankfully he looks into the heart of us and not on the
mere outward appearance.

Actually, if you look at it, all mammals have very similar characteristics, not just humans and monkeys.
Think of the animals that don't have tails. It's actually hard to come up with a list off the top of your head. Just something to think about. The animals you see in this world are all relatively similar. You want something different, how about we meet up with a nitrogen based life form. Now, that would be different.
If you're wanting an answer about why God made monkeys and humans look similar, well, why not? What do you think we SHOULD have looked like? A falcon? Giraffe? Something completely different? A ball of light? Would you rather live in a world where the animals are made of pure energy or the animals must eat human flesh to survive? I dunno, I kinda like the animals we have here, they seem to work together pretty well, that is why I think God made the animals similar to us, because I don't want to hang out with (or eat) a Silicon based life form. Just my preference.
Also, who's to say that evolution isn't part of God's plan and initial design?
Lets say you are the proud owner of a new ant farm, you can either dump all the ants in a box of sand and watch them, giving them food occasionally, taking care of the queen when she hatches daughters, and just generally watching over them to make sure they don't die. Or, you can spend some more time and give your ants a self contained environment. Give them plants that grow that they can eat, give them a large enough environment so they can expand and keep predators away. Then, you can sit back and enjoy your ants, and let them live their lives instead of sticking your fingers in their sand and digging their tunnels for them. But I digress...
Of course, I personally haven't seen anything evolve, I'm still waiting for my fish to come out of the water and eat the hamburger I put out for him on the sandbar in his tank, but hey, I guess it's possible that evolution actually happens. I haven't seen it, but I'm willing to go out on a limb and say it's possible (that's kind of big of me, I know)
Anyways, there are lots of things that don't seem to make sense, no matter what you believe in.

If we are descended from apes, why are we not genetically compatible with them? Every human being on earth is genetically compatible with every other human being. In other words, if you take one fertile male and one fertile female from any two races, regions, etc. and mate them, you produce viable offspring. Not so with a human and an ape. Not by a longshot.
Why would we have evolved into creatures who are by and large weaker, albeit more mentally capable? What is the biological advantage of losing an opposable digit on your foot, for example? Seems to me that would come in handy (no pun intended), especially since I am a mother and could use an extra set of hands! What is the biological advantage of losing all that extra body hair? (I know some middle-aged men who might rival an orangutan, but by and large... you know what I mean... :-) ) I live in the northern United States, and I can tell you this past winter, we could've used the extra insulation!
Maybe God was trying to teach us something about relating to our fellow creatures by creating some to whom we could more easily relate. I don't know. But I do know that I saw a program on television the other day talking about how giant squid or octopi or something like that had eyes similar to human eyes, and I do not take that to mean that I evolved from giand squid. I think God created squid, apes, and me the way He wanted us.

Sometimes. But I figure God made us that way for a reason. The only main similarities I see are their hands. But then again most eyes look similar with all animals.
I figure God might have done it just to give us all something to discuss. There really are more differences than similarities.

monkeys don't look similar to humans. you may be thinking of apes, but still, the only similarities I see are with the ears and hands.
if you're trying to make me believe in macro-evolution, it isn't working.

Well, a Trans-Am and a Camero look very similar. Did they evolve from a common car ... or were they made by the same 'creator'.

Never mind looks, why are we 98% common in our DNA.
One of the interesting thins is that Chimps have one more chromosome than humans.
But when you compare the chimp DNA to human DNA one of the human chromosomes is actually two of the Chimp chromosomes stuck together.

Why did God feel the need to do that?

What kind of a question is that? I know it is just meant to incite. Well I feel like turning the other cheek today so I won't reciprocate. From what I see in nature there are many creatures that look quite similiar...deer, antelope to just name one quick one...so want to take another stab? haha

But where's the transitional fossil that shows we came from the monkeys? Please don't tell me they're at the museum because those are all human skulls, not half ape half man or ape alone
