It does not degrade women. It actually makes them more appealing because they show a great deal of modesty in a world almost entirely ruled by sex appeal.

I believe that too much focus has been put on hijabs, as they are of very little importance in Islam. I think it was either Prophet Mohamed's wife or daughter who wore the hijab to hide her identity while hiding.
If a woman today wears it, and it's of her own will (I don't mean that she was forced, just that she wasn't influenced by other women saying it's the right/cool thing to do) then I respect her for doing it. It shows that she has little care for vanity.

I don't think so. The sisters I know of don't sound degraded in any shape, form or fashion. They seem to be more confident once they choose to wear hijab. It's probably best for you to ask a woman who's Muslim, because really and truly, they're the ones can give you a better idea on how they feel about hijab.

No its does not degrades the woman and how can it degrade the woman it just keeps her hair hidden and does now show her body structure??It gives woman a modest look and she realy looks like a woman instead of an exposed piece of meat ! Btw i do wear a hijab and i am always more respected than others for just "hijab"...it is highly valued in my society !happy to be the one who wears hijab !

NOpe...Its apart of the Islamic belief and thats that. Besides, I notice it gives these girls more self confidence AND self respect unlike some other women in today's modern, shallow society.

If god wanted them to wear a hijab he would have made them to be born with one on their head!

I'm a Muslim who wears the hijab.
Wearing a scarf allows people to recognise and appreciate me for who I am as a person (i.e. personality, emotions and individuality) rather than how I look.

I think that Muslim men realize that they cannot control themselves, and rather than try, they put all blame and responsibility on women. If a man get aroused upon seeing a woman, is it not the woman's fault? Therefore, hajib.
