does anyone know of a website that tells how to can safely without a pressure cooker, I am scared of those things due to one blowing up on my mom and i want to do some canning but have found nowhere to tell me how without a pressure cooker. Please help if you can.

hmmm... I thought you can can in a boiling water bath without a pressure cooker.

Okay... I just read up on it. Looks like a pressure cooker is the best way to go to eliminate any risk of botulism.

Why did the pressure cooker blow up on your mom?
I thought they were very safe as long as you take standard precautions.

Unfortunately, it is not safe to can potatoes without using a pressure canner. The only foods that can be safely canned using a conventional canner are foods that are high in acid, like pickles. Here is some more information:

I dont have an answer so much as a comment. The rarity of what happen to your mom is extreme. I have canned for years and never have had an accident!

YOU CAN DO THEM IN A COLD PACK MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THE LIDS AND SEE THAT THERE SEAL LISTEN FOR THEM TO MAKE THE POPPING SOUND AS THEY COOL DOWN I CAN EVERY YEAR
