hell no, and if you do automatically think of slavery and hatred, you seriously need to study your history, the south left the union after they were not being represented ( just like the US did with England) and become their own nation, the north didn't like it so the north went to war, the south was actually winning the war for a while, the war was not declared to free the slaves until the north's first victory, in which Lincoln made the emancipation proclamation, so if you still think of slavery, y'all need to look again, it is heritage not hatred

No. I grew up in the south, and I still don't think about slavery when I see that particular flag.

I also think it is a double standard to ask one group of people to put their history away while we continually discuss and even apologize after many years to another. The entire issue of slavery is history, it is over and done with. Those that experienced it are dead and gone. We learned from that terrible time and do not practice that type of business now, at least in this country. So, I don't understand why we just can't let it all go.

Just my two, maybe three cents!

It depends on what is referred to as the Confederate flag. The Confederacy had something like 5 official flags, including a pure white flag (just like the unofficial French flag). The Stars and Bars was just a unit flag. The North had slaves too so I wouldn't consider the Stars and Bars as a representation of slavery.

Ban this Ban that......Ever heard of freedom of speech? or does that only apply to people that have your same view point? I could care less what flag you fly. So basiclly if anything offends or causes discomfort it should be banned. Guess all the reporters and comedians should be silenced to. Quit being such a sensitive little whiner and worry about something that matters. Like maybe homeless familys for an example.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!! when I see the Confederate flag I think about my heritage. To me it represents the fact that my family had to fight for the right to fly that flag and that no black, white, Mexican or ANYBODY can tell me to take that WONDERFUL piece of my family down.

I'm glad you brought this question up, i love how people associate the confederacy with slavery. a couple of questions, where did we get our slaves from...hmmm maybe Africa... the US (hundreds of years ago) BOUGHT/TRADED to get slaves, which were already slaves, i don't see any African Americans going to Africa and saying they want to be repayed for the torture their ancestors went through. i love how no one knows that, and a lot of African Americans want everything given to them because their great great grandmother was a slave... you have your justice now(equal opportunity), you just choose to live on welfare and coupons, its not any ones fault but their own. GREAT example, New Orleans. but anyways, i think of the dukes of hazzard and how people misinterpret of what it really means. and slavery wasn't the main reason for the civil war.

I just think of ignorance when I see that flag. Some poor uneducated fool who thinks he's got it going on, waving that stupid treasonous flag.
