actually most atheists don't deny that there was a person named Jesus was back when. we just deny that he was the "son of god"

i don't doubt that there could have been someone named Jesus who went around preaching to everyone.

Sorry, I'm a total believer. He was zipping through my living room last night and whacked me with a noodle. I was baptised by Marinara sauce. Oh rejoice!

I tell u what u do, cook spaghetti and use salt and garlic in the water, drain and put ragu tomato spaghetti sauce on it, and place on a plate. then raise ur hands and say oh mity spaghetti monster I beseach thee to manifest thyself to me, and slam ur hands on the edge of the plate as it sits before u, u can use a fist if u want, and u will meet the spaghetti monster. use a firm plate that doesn't break. and wear old clothes because the spaghetti monster respects humility the most. If u do it right u will meet ur monster

With regards to The Weasels answer, you should know that remarkable claims demand stronger proof.

The fact that the Romans conquered most of Europe and parts of Africa is well known through archeological finds which include coinage, similar peices of pottery decipting Roman life, and insctriptions on tablets. This is considered enough proof that a powerful civilisation conquered Europe, as this is nothing that remarkable, and Napoleon did the same a millenia later.

However, Jesus is the son of God, who produced miracles on a daily basis, and rose from the dead. Nothing like this ever happens, so we demand extremely thorough proof.

For instance, I happen to have a goat in my garden. Thats fairly unusual, but I can back it up with this photograph:

http://biology.clc.uc.edu/graphics/taxonomy/animals/mammalia/domestic%20goat/JSC%200105%20Goats%206%20Goat%20w%20horns.JPG

Which is enough evidence to back up my claim. However, I also own a small field and own a couple of horses, including an extremely rare unicorn. I can back this up with the same suitable evidence, I have a nice picture of them:

You may believe that I have a goat, but you are unwilling to accept that I own a unicorn. I mean, you know unicorns don't exist right? For me to prove that, I would need some serious evidence, in fact you'd probably want to see it for yourself untill you believed me.

Do you see my point?

Many atheists say Jesus didn't exist. A Jesus critic, Salomon Reinach, refused to consider writings founded upon the memory of a collection of illiterates as historical evidence for Jesus. Scholars such as Reinach also casually dismiss the strong extra-biblical historical evidence from both pagan and Jewish sources that validates the Gospel accounts about Jesus. If liberal scholars applied the same arbitrary criteria in evaluating the historical evidence for the existence of other ancient historical personages, such as Julius Caesar or Alexander the Great, they would be forced to reject all history as myth.

Because it's never rained spaghetti sauce, No one ever claimed to have had a spaghetti religious experience that is shared by millions of people every single day.

The spaghetti monster, did not leave a book, that science proved to be 2000 years old, with a lifetime span of thousands of years, of people and stories of the same spirit. Unless 2000 years ago, the word conspiracy had a meaning (pretty sure it didn't)

I believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster. He exists in the hearts and minds of those who lie about God.

From a christian point of view: You cant prove it doesnt exist so i will just have faith that it does. From an atheist point of view: There is no evidence for a spaghetti monster so I will not believe in it.

They all know in their hearts that He is the one true Lord. All you have to do is surrender your heart to the noodley appendage and rejoice! I'm completely in love with FSM. Nothing anyone can say will change that. You want proof? Just look around you. What more proof do you need?
