A Christian is a follower of Jesus of Nazareth, referred to as the Christ. Christians believe Jesus to be the Son of God, who lived a life befitting that of the creator of the universe, free of sin and full of love, who at the end of his earthly life was crucified, and then on the third day, rose from the dead, and later ascended into heaven. These beliefs are held by the vast majority of Christian denominations.
A necklace does not make one a Christian, the cross has been worn by many just for fashion, no specific regard for a religious symbol. So, if what makes a Christian is Christianity, which is not worn, then the Muslim can be a Muslim without wearing a head scarf. It's only fair, right? Personally, I don't care, but the hiding symbolism doesn't groove too well in western culture, an adaptation needs to be made.

Well, they aren't.
I presume you are referring to the law passed in France a few years ago that banned head scarves in state schools. The same law also banned crosses and Jewish skull-caps. There was no specific concentration on Muslims.
Of course, Muslims are still allowed to wear head scarves anywhere else outside school, as other religions are allowed to wear their emblems. But the French, very sensibly, decided that in the secular state schools, no religious items should be allowed.

Yes you are right. Sikhs should remove their turbans, jewish their yarmakuh, etc etc. Of course this is extreme in all 4 cases. No one should be forced to remove these items at all.
Silly people, a headscarf doesn't cover your face either.
And for that matter why does it matter if you can see a persons face or not? Are you afraid? If someone wants to hurt you they can do it with or without a face veil.
ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Public hazard...that is the funniest thing I ever heard.
P.S. 99% of muslim nations do not require headscarves nor do they prevent the practicing of other religions. 99% do not require foreigners to wear headscarves (only 2 do and that is only in certain locations). 99% have churches and synagoges. I am an american and I live in a muslim nation and live side by side with christians and jewish.

i'm french. u can wear small crosses, as a Jew could wear a small star, and a Muslim a small Fatima's hand. the law is about too visible signs, and everything that covers the face and the head, that's all. So the equity is perfectly respected. for instance, as a catholic, i don't have the right to wear too big a cross around the neck.

The cross is one of the most recognizable religious symbols known to man. Millions revere it, considering it to be the sacred instrument on which Jesus was put to death .But the Bible states that Jesus died on a "tree" Acts 5:30. The greek word is stauros-meaning pole or tree. But lets suppose yourloved one was brutally murdered and the weapon was submitted to the court as evidence. Would you try to gain possession of it, make copies for distribution and make replicas of it in jewelry form and use these reproductions commercially to be worn around the neck and venerated?.....Lets hope not!

If by head scarves you are actually referring to them being used as a form of gang sign then the answer is obvious.
If they are tuely being used in a religious observance then they should not be banned.
The key is what comes of the act, not the act itself.

christians should be allowed to w
wear crossed in France, as France is a Christian Country, its not a Muslim Country.
i am not a racists, but i feel the Mulsim religion is taking over Europe.
the Muslim religion and some other religions get away a lot more than Christians i work for a large supermarket chain.
Muslim girls are allowed to wear thier full face veil and their head scarfs, Skikh are allowed to wear their headwear, But a Christian must keep their Cross inside their shirt? so as a christian i am not allowed to show that i am a christain, but yet if i was a muslim or a Skikh, i would be allowed to show my faith.
there is no equal rights in this country when it comes to religion
i suppose posting won't be allowed by yahoo

Why wouldn't Christians be allowed to wear crosses? They have been wearing crosses for so many years.

In French public schools no religious symbols (or those things associated with a religion) are permitted to be worn.
This includes: Crosses, head scarves, Star of David, etc.
This has been in and out of the news for quite some time.
