Are Starbucks fiendish and foul mouthed coffe creaps?
Are their "global statements" regarding their corporate image demonically charged? Many coffee growers they support are anti USA and are vodoo devils! (Haiti/Africa) Their company empowers them by bying their beans! They are plainly "slapping" God in the face with THESE blasphomous statements! (See below by clicking link)

curious,
They printed it on the cup! They have marketing meetings over these things!
It offends 3 of the major religions! This is not the 1st evil statement thay have made! Believe it or not, people are responsible for their actions! Now they will try to pull a democratic stunt and start using religious jargon, like heavenly, or divine to make up for their person flaws! SHAME ON THEM, not me... :^)

skalite5, Thank you! I had not been aware until your comment! Thank you for educating me! I will post your response! :^) (Your quote)
"Starbucks has a long history of supporting dictators in South and Central America, and enough peasant blood on their hands to wash out the streets of Mexico City, but only now you decide not to patronize them?
If your priorities are that they said something mildly offensive that they didn't even write, which consequently was one amongst many things they printed, many supporting Christian or other religous faith, so you stop your patronidge of them, but you've for years ignored the numerous reports of their economic and human rights abuses, I think maybe you've got to open up your eyes a bit wider. " End quote

****PLease read this remark!***
FROM: Phoenix
Well, that's your right just as it's their right to print diverse viewpoints on their coffee cups. It doesn't surprise me that you, a Christian, is anti-free thought and expression. If you want to promote hate and oppression, that's up to you.
Personally, I think you people are just pissed that everyone on the planet isn't catering to you anymore. You are not God and you should not expect to be treated as such. Get off your pedestal.
Maybe now you people will put that $5 a day toward a worthy cause instead of your selfish pursuit of the overpriced American dream.
I've always hated Starbuck's, but now I might actually go there. (End quote)
*Q?* Phoenix, are you so dull? Anti-God is offensive to EVERYONE except an Athiest/Agnostic. All the religions refer to God NOT JUST CHRISTIANS!
You are Sooo antiChristian! Poor thing!

Billthak,
You are WRONG! It was a DIRECTIVE!
"Turn to yourself not God", in so many words... That is an attack to the religious and their religious stance! It was CLEAR OPPOSITION!!! You do not see this because you are not passionate about God! If you were, you would not defend their unlofty and irreligious directive statement! -DUH!
I say again, You are wrong!

To all...???
Why is rude and harsh "Freedom of speach" o'kay against Christians or God and our religion and beliefs and practises and NOT okay against Gay or other groups beliefs etc.?
DON'T YOU SEE THE DUPLICITY IN THAT!
Hypocrisy= Wikipedia...
Hypocrisy is the act of condemning another person, where the stated basis for the criticism is the breach of a rule which also applies to the critic. A person engaged in hypocrisy is called a hypocrite.

Billthak,
You know NOTHING about Christianity and Jesus Christ!
Jesus was NOT martyred as YOU put it!
He had the power to stop it! HIS BLOOD MAKES ATONEMENT FOR ORIGINAL SIN!!! He is the "lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world."
You would do well to understand this and believe fully.
Your comment on abortion just shows who you are!
Really, I "must not throw pearls to swine lest they trample them under foot!" =Meaning "I will not give you a direct opportunity from me to further blaspheme the Lord!"...

It says in the Holy Bible to AVOID even the appearence of evil!!!
It is evil to give a directive to "turn away from God". Gently I say, "whos side are you on?" This post may show how you really stand for God...

Please do not make excuses for the bad and twist it to make Christians look bad for standing up for what is right!

I understand that Starbucks are ALREADY playing damage control!
Nothing they can do or say will undo what they already did...
They are going to lose some pretty big beans over this.
People are rightfully crying out over MORE than "just spilt coffee" regarding
those devilish comments on cups!

So the fact that they've been guilty of supporting coffee growers that distroy local agronomy and economies had no effect what-soever on you, but because they printed something that was written by a customer on a cup to spurr debate, you've finally decided they're evil? Starbucks has a long history of supporting dictators in South and Central America, and enough peasant blood on their hands to wash out the streets of Mexico City, but only now you decide not to patronize them?

Hey lady- do your homework- they put bible quotes on starbucks cups too. Quit crying and learn that you're god isn't the only thing that matters in this world... even though it may be to you.

uh Jan- Normally I wouldn't point this out (usually I like your answers) but if starbucks printed a coffee cup that had the word "Christard" on it, I would not only agree with you, but complain myself. Free speech is free speech but same goes with racism and really bad taste- and YES we can tell the difference. This cup was not nearly as much an insult to christians as n-gger would be to blacks, or f-ggot would be to gays- yet I hear christians using these terms ALL THE TIME. If this cup said "damn dirty kike"- I (and hopefully not alone) at least would backing you up here- same as if it was a direct rip on Christians... but it wasn't. It was a very intelligent quote meant to draw conversation and provoke thought- and possibly argument should you choose to disagree with it (you do know that free speech allows for this, too?). It gets you going. I didn't piss and moan the last time I bought a cup of coffee with a Jesus quote on it. What gives? Phoenix had a very good point!

edit: I'm so glad you decided to email me on this issue. Its funny how whenever quotes like this pop up in public, people like you start bitching and complaining- but when ABORTION STOPS SMILING HAPPY BABIES FROM BEING BORN shows up on a billboard next to a dead fetus, you give standing ovation. Double standard? I think you're the stinky one (then again- I did just fart).

And if it is in direct opposition- they still have a right to print it, just as you still have a right NOT TO BUY IT. SO instead of worrying about the decorations on Starbucks coffee cups, go pray or read the bible or something over a nice cup of more agreeable Jesus Coffee... Separate but Equal is the way of the lord from now on, right?

To all of you Christians complaining about this - lets not forget why Jesus was martyred... it had a lot to do with speaking his mind.

Oh geez, calm down already. Talk about blowing things out of proportion!! It's not a Starbucks statement, it's one of a private individual. Yes, they printed it, but only as a quote to start conversation. And if you send them your viewpoint on god, they just may print that too. The whole idea behind this is to get people talking. Guess what, it works. Freedom of speech sweetheart! Grow up.

Actually, it is good to check into the companies where you spend your money.
What do they believe in?
How do they use the profits?
How is their products produced and at whos expense?
How do they use your money (profits) in government venues?
Do they believe in saving the planet?
Do they believe in saving the rain forrest and help prevent global warming?

Starbucks is only one of the big corporations that are using our money to fund their quiet crusades. Look at Walmart, Marth Stewart, Microsoft, Harpo/Oprah, and more. Sometimes it is political or profits for other countries or the use of other countries poor workers to feed their pockets. That is corportate America.

How can you stop these less than desirable Companies in their tracks, JUST STOP FEEDING THEM MONEY. Stop buying their products and they will go under. All consumers can do that. That is POWER.

Starbucks is expensive coffee. They make 90% profit on each cup. You can make a cup of coffee at home for a penny a cup. Which is better???

That company is free to present any idea it wishes. It is obviously a choice they did not make lightly, and the owners obviously feel VERY strongly about the righteousness of the message, since there will OBVIOUSLY be huge backlash. Good for them. Since all you want is coffee and Heaven, you can get them on your own.

edit: apparently that isn't even the opinion of Starbucks, it is just an exercise in promoting discussion. Shame on you for presenting it otherwise.

bottom line
why would I pay that much anyway,

I buy my coffee direct hand have it sent to a roaster and then delivered to me and grind it myself, truly it is even better than starbucks ever was.
oh and i get the beans for Jamaica, Hawaii or Indonesia (Sumatra) and it still come out less than what all the commercial coffee shops charge

I've never stepped foot inside a Starbucks, and I'm not a Christian, so I really couldn't care less.

BTW, it's called freedom of speech. I see plenty of businesses waving Christian banners, why is this any different?

2007-05-07 14:00:02 · answer #9 · answered by Anonymous · 5 1

They seem to have slopped some coffee on the floor with this one.

I suppose it would make it tough as a devout christian (or even Mohammedan) to drink from cups with these kind of sentiments. (I haven't check the sentiments; if you can't stand it boycott it.)

So if Starbucks loses business its too bad for them. Maybe some guys in the management are hard atheists.

You mean they don't have a right to what their own company does? Do you think they care?

Seriously, if you believe that these "cups" can hurt your own belief in your religion then maybe you should study more and drink less coffee.
