Why do some theists believe there is no such thing as a true atheist?

Does it make them feel better? Or do they say that just to annoy us?

I think it's monumentally arrogant. Saying that I'm wrong is one thing; saying that I somehow know I'm wrong is another thing entirely.

And I'll be the first to admit that I don't entirely understand the mind of a person that believes in a God. My suspicion, though, is that the same thing is happening in reverse - that a person who does believe cannot conceive of a person who simply doesn't, without petitioning causes like You're Angry At God, or Satan Did It, or similar.

By definition an atheist cannot reasonably exist...you see, no one possesses ALL the knowledge in the universe so they cannot reasonably declare that there is no GOD. Just because no one has seen him lately does not justify such an absurd claim. I haven't personally seen Albert Einstein but I don't go around declaring that he doesn't really exist. Now one could say this and be true," with my limited knowledge I believe that GOD doesn't exist".... that however makes one an agnostic not an atheist.

Either delusion, to make themselves feel better, or to annoy atheists. And sometimes a mixture of those characteristics.

People who say it sincerely just plain don't understand anything beyond their own mind, but in general it's probably said more as an argumentative term.

Some theists believe that atheism is a belief, which it logically is (since one cannot disprove the existence of god (logically impossible), it is considered a belief). Others believe that there is no way a human or person cannot deny god, they must have some belief of a supreme being, that we are simply denying that being to ourselves.

Because they can not accept that which they themselves do not believe...so instead of accepting your beliefs,whatever they may be,they prefer to try and cram their beliefs down your throat....hoping you will see"the light" the problem here is....its "their belief" and "their light" and if you truly wanted what they had you would have joined the crusade a H*ll of along time ago.........Your beliefs or dis beliefs are your prerogative,nothing worse then someone who can't just come to the realization......that you are not going to change your mind for anyone.

I am not sure why this is the case by my fellow Christians, sometimes what they do baffle me. Yet some "atheist" baffle me as well. Like saying we are all born "atheist" that is just about as ludicrous as the situation you are talking about.

Please forgive those Christians. People can be naive. And naivety knows no faith.

a true atheist believes there is no god but most ppl who claim to be atheist don't really know anything about any of it to believe or not believe. at least thats my thought

because they can't honestly comprehend the thought of someone not believing, since their belief is so strong. many of them choose to believe that atheism really means being agnostic. this way, they can still hope we'll convert someday.

i worked with a man one time who said he was atheist...and i tell u what....we probably had more conversations about god than anything else...im catholic and he knew that...actually we became best of friends....i love to talk religion with people and meeting him was great...it was great to meet someone who, well didnt believe in god....i mean the bible fascinated him and we could talk bout it for hours....but hey...its america...freedom of religion....i dont care what u believe in....its what kind of person u r inside......
