I've always liked the song by Bette Middler from Beaches "Wind Beneath My Wings" it's appropriate for a father and daughter slow dance at a wedding, even if the relationship is strained. A wedding is a beginning a new fresh start, so why can't she have that with her dad?

Good luck

Through the Years by Kenny Rogers. But if the relationship isn't a good one, she may want to go for something a little more uptempo that suggests celebrating the day rather than their relationship, Maybe like Isn't She Lovely by Stevie Wonder or We Are Family, by Sister Sledge.

I had a few to mention but this site will give you / her an opportunity to listen to them before she makes a decision.

Though traditional, it would be perfectly acceptable to skip this ritual all together especially if the bride and her father really don't get along that well. She could omit the groom /mother dance as well and no one's nose would be out of joint -if you know what I mean.

She could just limit it to the bride and groom first dance. (or) Then invite the parents up to dance as couples followed by the rest of the party goers.

Traditionally, it's 'Daddy's Little Girl', a very old song that people still use at weddings. Though your friend and her dad don't get along too well now--maybe they had great times when she was younger??? Anyway, it's just one dance.

It depends on how close they are ...

I would love to dance to "Father of Mine" by Everclear but that's because my dad wasn't exactly my first love...

Landslide by Fleetwood Mac is a unique one that isn't too sappy.
