I come from a pretty family, where I'm the ugly duckling becuase of my nose. Everybody else has straight or ski jump noses, wheras I have a bent nose with a hump, not same-sized nostrils, and tip bump. I think I would look so much better after a nose job and feel better, but my family thinks its a waste of money and superfical. I'm trying to save money but even my friends(all with small ski jump noses BTW) think I could use the money on something better. How can I show them that they don't know what it's like to have a big bent nose and that You only live once and I would sure like to live with a nose I love!?

If you want it, get it! They don't live with your nose, you do! I'm tired of people saying that "you don't need it!" How do they know? They haven't lived in your shoes, or nose so to speak. Do what makes you happy, not your family or friends! This is a personal choice, not a community choice!

While you are saving money for your nose, think long and hard about whether your nose is your problem. Look hard at all the beautiful people in hollywood--they don't all look the same--only a small part of being hot is what you were born with--being good looking is the air about you, the way you command attention when you enter a room, and things like that. If you are feeling insecure about yourself, surgery won't help. But if you are sure it's just your nose that's a problem, go ahead and cut it off!

Courtney Love had her nose re-done to be like her old pre-surgery nose recently. Not that she's the best role model--I'm just making the point that sometimes beauty is more in your head than you think.

The grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence. Those with ski-jump noses say you could use the money for something else. They may be saying that their nose doesn't help them any better than yours does. They may be right.

I know that there is a software that shows you a picture of yourself after the procedure. Get one and show them. Look at it for a long time too and put it beside a piece of paper with the amount you will be spending for it. Decide after 2 weeks.

On the other hand, your nose does not make "you". You are the collection of all things about you. Your character, intelligence, your hair, eyes, lips, your humor, education, body, the way you dress...all of that. Maybe you could use the money for something else.**

There's not 100% guarentee that you'd get the perfect nose your dreaming of.

God along with your mom and who your father were gave you this nose. Life is so much more important to be "ourselves". You've lived with this nose this long, why not the rest of your life.

Don't turn to "plastic" for a better ego. Research all the bad nose jobs reported before insisting on a new one.

My daughter felt the same way. She also wanted a nose job. We told her when she was old enough to make the decision and pay for it, she could.

Well, she met her husband who loves her exactly the way she is. She has her grandmother's nose. Grandma passed away on April 5, 2007. She now sports her "pig" nose proudly.

Give it lots of thought and do what you want when you are an adult. Good luck sweetie!

Tell them all that you are NOT happy with yourself. And that you are gonna do this with or with out there approval. That they cant possibly understand what you go thru day after day. And that you want a change.
If they cant respect that, forget em. What matters is how you feel, not them. If you arent happy, change it. But I am sure God gave you that nose for a reason. Make sure it is something you are sure about doing. My sister is gonna get one, and she read up on it. It hurts major!

Some people don't understand the desire for plastic surgery. I am one of them, I can't imagine having surgery to change myself. No, I do not think I'm perfect, I just wouldn't have surgery.

I think if it is something you want to do for you, it's your choice. Only you can live your life and you should be happy. Just don't have surgery because you want to fit in.

Good luck with whatever you decide. I hope your family and friends will support your decision.

having had a nose job (rhinoplasty) to repair a deviated septum and breathing problems, i know first hand how badly it friggin' hurts. i'd never subject myself to something that painful if it weren't medically nessecary. beleive it or not, people will not look at your nose but at the whole picture.

Just say that it's your nose and your money and you're gonna do what you damn well feel like doing. It's really not their business.
