If you are going anywhere internationally you need a passport...BUT if it is just a domestic flight as long as you can bring two other forms of ID such as:
-Social security card
or
-birth certificate

AND (one from above, one from below)

-credit card (with your name)
or
-gym membership/costco card

If you are flying Internationally, you have to have a passport, period, there's no way to get around it.

For domestic travel, forget all those answers about library cards and costco cards. If youa re presenting ID, it MUST be a government-issued ID and last I checked, costco wasn't part of the government.

But a little-known fact is, anyone can fly without presenting ID (US domestic only). You will have to submit to Secondary Security Screening--- that's where they take everything out of your bag, pat you down, etc. If you decide to try this, you should research it very well online--- do a search for "flying without ID" and you'll find a court case that has all the details. Bring a printout of that court case with you and arrive extra early because I don't think most TSA agents know about this, and you may have a difficult time proving your point.

If you are going out of the US you can use a passport, if not maybe you can use your birth certificate. I would just call the airlines and ask them if a birth certificate will be good. It is going to be very hard to travel without a picture id.
