Would your grandfather appreciate you and your family sharing this day with him? He may be lonely and may want you over even for a day. The children might cheer him up and they could know their grandpa better. Just a thought.**

Grandfathers enjoy going out to eat.
You've said you've already done a book of your family pics but how about a scrapbook with other family photos with a theme:
Family Vacations
All the In the Grandkids ....Great -grands included.
Who Needs Disney When We have Grandpa
...you could ask people to email pics to you if you don't have many, some cute captions and added personal touch like a cd that has some devoted songs that can be dowloaded from paid services. I think walmart is 0.88 cents.

If he's a charitable man, as successful men should be, make a donation in his name to his favorite charity. Not only would he approve, he would be pleased to see that you have regard for the things he finds to be worthy causes. You thereby acknowledge his good judgement, which is worth more than any tangible gift he could ever receive.

Buy a casette and record messages from you and your kids. Babies grow so fast and hearing things that they say and the way they talked when they were a certain age is something any famliy member will cherish for the rest of their lives!

Nothing wrong with a nice card and a recent picture of your family. Maybe a note that promises a visit during summer break.

how about you make him something. I know a lot of people do that for rich relatives, I know I do. It works all the time, that way they know you care enough about them and money isn't everything they want. He may be rich but he still loves you, and money shouldn't be everything in his and your eyes.

Something handmade! Depending on how old your kids are, you could do fingerpaints/hand prints with their names and ages and then have them framed nicely and shipped to him. It's something he could never just buy in a store and something that will remind him of his family.
