"...I will kneel, and let him strike off my head."

This was the claim made by one of the princes of Germany, and it ultimately pursuaded Charles V to allow the reading of the Augsburg confession.

Would you be able to make that statement?

Unfortunately, I don't know that I'd have the gonads to do that.

I'm glad that they did, otherwise, I might not know God today. We might not have the Bible to read for ourselves, and the church might still be feeding the masses indulgence-living-crapola.

Charles V was a weenie, so I might have called his bluff, but I'd probably crap myself while saying these words and bowing my head.

I hope I would. There are Christians all over the world that are dying because they refuse to deny God. If you are interested in their stories, which function not only to convict but to show us what true love for God is, I suggest subscribing to the Voice of the Martyr newsletter.

God bless!

And there are people in psychiatric wards that are absolutely convinced that they are Napoleon. Does their conviction make it the truth?

If my life were to depend on my stating my belief in some deity, then I would state it to be so. It does not change my thoughts. It definitely does not change reality.

I admire this kind of commitment to one's spiritualty. That is why I cannot understand why Christians go around trying to get other people to give up their religion. Shouldn't one have the same kind of respect.

I'm not a Christian, so no.

I will not let anyone force me to change what I do believe in, however. Only I can make that decision.

And if he wasn't a prince, he would have been dragged off and hanged. It was a function of noble rank, not power of faith.

Yes. As Paul said, "To live is Christ, and to die is gain." Our whole life(as Christians) is preparing us for the New Jerusalem, and we therefore sow into the eternal.
