Over the years many Christians have told me that Jesus knows what we go through and has been through everything we have. Nowhere does it state that He was married so how can He possibly know the issues married people go through?

Marriage is instituted by God, and I believe its in order to illustrate to us the relationship that Jesus Christ has with the Church. Thus, it IS possible for Him to have been through that relationship. It is the relationship that caused him to come to this world and die for our sins.

It's a good question. That's how I would answer it. I'm not a theological scholar or anything, but that's my opinion.

It would have been inconceivable for a Jewish man of 30 to be unmarried at that time. More, there was a widespread movement in the early Church, the Magdalena Sect, that believed that he was married, Mary Magdalene was his wife and a 13th disciple. It also rated her as the first apostle, since she was the one chosen to carry the message of the resurrection to the other disciples. The Magdalena Sect was wiped out militarily by the Roman Paulians, who declared that Jesus was celibate and that the Magdalene was a prostitute, and attitude still held by the protestants and many catholics despite John Paul IIs flat-out state she was not, and we were wrong to ever consider her one.

No. That would have made his entire purpose for lowering himself to human status and dying horribly worth nothing.

He had to live his entire life without commiting a sin AND not have kids. That is saying it wrong. What I mean is when Adam sinned, he had not had any kids. If he had or if Eve had not sinned, his decendants could have still kept perfection in Eden. Since he had kids AFTER, all his kids inherited his sin.

The ransom that all the Mosaic Law sacrifices pointed to by Jesus, had to be of the same value as Adam. His potential for children gave the rest of us a way out from under the trouble Adam caused.

That is why he could not be married.

Was Jesus married?

Perhaps.

He was referred to as "Rabbi", right? Well from my understanding Jewish tradition dictates that a "rabbi" is to be married (?)

Also, Jesus attended a wedding in which he was "put in charge" or was seemingly responsible for making sure there was enough wine for the guests at the wedding. Again, (and from what I understand) Jewish tradition dictates that the one who is responsible for making sure there is enough wine at the wedding is the groom!?

Remember Jesus (and his followers at that time) were NOT christians, but JEWS!!!!

To me, the real question is NOT whether he is or was married, but who was he married to and did he have children?

How is what Jesus taught changed by the fact that he was married or not, to whom and whether he had children, etc?

Afterall--is not the truth, the truth regardless of where it comes from, or who said it, etc?

Or does the fact of who it comes from make something 'more true' than when it comes from another source? For instance, if Jesus told a lie, would it be less of a lie because it came from him rather than you or I?

You do notice, don't you, that reardless of what others say or have said about Jesus, his teachings have stood the test of time for as long as (or longer) than any other teacher of mankind?

Hmmmmmmm

Regards,

No, He wasn't married. Jesus came to earth as a man and knew exactly what it is to be human. It was as He died on the cross that He experienced every single thing that every human who ever lived has gone through. He knows exactly how everyone felt, what motivated them, their hopes and fears and their sin. He took the full horror of it to the grave and took the full punishment for it. He became the only man ever to come back from death. In doing this He defeated death and has promised that if we accept Him we will have eternal life.

In the event Jesus Christ actually existed, it's easier for me to believe that he was married and might have had a child or 2, than it is for me to believe he rose from the dead after 3 days in the grave.

The New Tetament doesn't say anything about it, neither the apocrypha, although the apocrypha hints he could have been. Also it was his responsability, as a devoted Jew, to get married and to have children. Reality is:

Since when getting married is a sin??

If he got married, what's wrong about it?

That then the "celibacy" of the priests of the catholic church can be proven to be a myth?

No, Jesus was not married. Jesus was tempted and dealt with annoying people just like we are. Just because He never had a wife does not mean He does not know about relationships. He might not have experience your exact issue, but He dealt with problems same as every human...Only He was perfect and never stumbled. God bless you.

No. His purpose in coming here was not to fool around with Mary Magdalene, have kids, get married or anything else but what He was sent here for. All the mush-brained counter-theories of the theological and scientific "elite"communities aside.

It's very possible he was married to Lazarus's sister. Remember when she chastized him for waiting so long to come. I wife would have the authority to do that. Noone else.

Of course, I realize you don't really want an answer. You just want to see people agree with what you already believe.
