I am a large man and I need a sturdy bike to help me lose weight, any suggestions. I would also like to keep it pretty reasonably priced.

Most of the answers above are just stupid. Sorry.

Do not go to Target or any other discount store. what you will find there are bikes of low quality that are assembled by stock room staff. They have no service and are generally assembled terribly. You will likely need to bring it to a bike shop for adjustment.

Go to your local bike shop and see what they have to say. Depending on your needs, they will likely suggest a mountain bike, hybrid or fitness. I like the Trek 7.3ZX for just riding on streets. Comfortable, strong, and fun to ride.

for being a large man i would suggest going to a bike shop. make sure u fit your bike, being ur leg should be almost locked at the bottom of the stroke back and arms relaxed and comfertable, all bikes are built sturdy otherwise they wouldnt sell. dont get one of those massive gel seats if you plan on riding a decent ammount because in the end they actually sink ur butt into the hard material of the seat making it more painful. good luck losing weight im glad someones trying to do something about it

Get a mountain bike with no suspension.
But if u want to lose weight, u can burn calories faster by walking than cycling.
I lose 7kg in 2 months by walking & running on treadmill to burn those calories.
But I also have to watch my diet- low calories, high fibres.
And the result started to show when i skip sugar.
it worked for me and i guess it will work for u too.
give it a try ok.

I suggest checking out Craig's list for a used mountain bike. They are fantastic bikes over all - especially for beginners. Kudos to you for getting on a bike!
