You don't have to have it rule your life..
My daughter had...
her's started after a molest as a child.
we got her into a good therapist, gave her a secure and loving environment and family support.
when she got back a sense of who she was again, her self esteem and worth, she slowly healed.
she is successful and has two children of her own now..
life does have it's challenges at times for many of us.. None of us are perfect.. honest.
you can deal with and conquer this at the level you chose. With the right guidance, care , assistance, determination and support.
have you seen a doctor regarding..? there are many support groups / talk to your family help them too to understand your concerns, and needs helps too.
My faith got me through so much when nothing else seemed too.
It made me realize i wasn't alone.. I read scriptures and prayed.
I found a great therapist.
i was on meds for a while, now nothing.
i myself have had more disorders and phobias than most people know about.
i have a very productive life now.. and happy!
Don't let or become the label of the disorder.. It is not you.. that is the first thing i learned. too many others do that..
It doesn't define you, or make you weaker.. It is a strength to know what is going on, the truth will set you free..
I realized when i was diagnosed it was really the most freeing moment of my life..
courage is a step each day we take out of the fear of what is the unknown.. and, the unknown isn't usually half as bad as what we imagined things would be, as to the reality of what is .. i know , been there..
meditation, relaxation.. may help too.
Is it reaction to a stress/ event or biological.. that is important to know.. the facts determine the course for you.
good luck to you! I know you'll be fine..

Joy, that is just painful reading the distress you're experiencing.
Definitely heed the advice of the other posters -- medical intervention along with cognitive behavioural therapy is the key for working through this stuff. You definitely don't have to live this way forever.
And you're not alone -- about 10% of the population struggles with OCD at some point in their lives. The good news is, it's "at some point." You are not a prisoner forever girl. You take the steps needed to make your life what it was intended to be. Cheering for you.

Honey, I know what you're going through. I have bi-polar and OCD. You won't live like this forever I promise. The doctor tried me on a lot of different medicines before he found one that worked. Are you on any medicine for this? The right medicine will make your life so much better. You need to go ahead and eat. Takes some deep breathes and see if you can calm down. If you need anyone to talk to, just let me know. You won't be like this forever.

I have never had your problem, but, can you stand still, move your arms slowly from your sides making an arc to where your hands come together over your head. Breath slowly in while doing this and hold it for 20 seconds at the top and then slowly exhale while you return your hands to your sides. Do this with your eyes closed and clear your mind of any and all thoughts. Stop after at least 10 times or more and then get your keys and just walk out the door. Try it now.

Dear Joy...you are not working at the moment from what I understand. The problem in your case is that everyday's energy does not have a way to come out. You have to disipate your everyday energy somehow. You need to do something even when you do not have work. Go swim, Jogg with a friend, have a plan for the day and everyday. Something constructive and joyful to you. Try things that some people around you are doing and you have never tried, may be learning to play music, yoga, meditation.. dont sit tight. Always have alternatives to dos planned ahead. You do not need make up..you are ok the way you are. Some times ocd is a way to consume time when we have nothing else to do and we're afraid that if it stopped we'd be all alone around ourselves which sometimes is harder and fearful to some. I believe you are OK as a person...a bit sensitive though but this can be turned to your advantage later when you learn to handle you problems a bit better. Learn to like yourself and accept it. If you need answers..seek them but do not give in.. Every creature God created is a unique master pieces in it self capable of doing things other creatures and other human beings cant do, you just have to find out what they are in time, you were created for a reason, some times it take suffering and time to find out what it is and to find out what we like in life. You have to find a job of course besides all this. it is very important. And You have to find something you like doing as a job or besides your job. Read Mariel Hemingway's "Healthy Living from the Inside Out" it can help you. Read some of Dr. Phil's books on drphil.com they can help. Watch his shows. Try Yoga and meditation..they can do wonders and can cure you helping you through. Also try balnced food. Read on Macrobiotics on kushiinstitute.com it also does miracles. Try some of these and e mail me if you like. I might be able to help more. You are OK.

I have OCPD and Bipolar. Meds help a lot with the Bipolar but not so much with the OCPD. However, OCD is totally different. There are lots of good medications for it. Find a local psychiatrist who can give you some meds for it or ask your regular doctor if he knows of anything. Good luck to you. You do NOT have to live this way forever...but you have to take control of it...tell yourself I am going to find medicine and I am going to get better.

Well, you stopped long enough to go to yahoo answers, so you are headed in the right direction. You must seek medical help. There are medications that you can take for OCD. Until that is done, you will have to force yourself to stop what ever you are doing. I know that sounds easy and its not, that is why you need medical assistance.

You don't have to live this way. There are plenty of helps out there. Check with a doctor or counselor - just check in your phnoe book. They can get you help, and I hear that there are simple medications which help a lot.
Peace.

go to a psychologist, they know a lot more than people online. if the psychologist can't help you, they will refer you to a psychiatrist, who can prescribe medication that will probably help you a lot if this is really affecting your life.
