Over the past 2 months I have been to the casinos 4 times, 3 times to Atlantic City and once to Mohegan Sun, 3 of the trips were really great. I hit a jackpot on the slots eact time for over a thousand dollars and was really feeling great starting think that I was indescruptable a winning streak that nobbody could stop, However it doesnt work like that, this past weekend went to Atlantic City and lost $700.00 , I felt lousy but I was able to get over it pretty quick because I have done pretty good over the last couple of months. But now I will take a break for a little while. How do you feel after a losing session. Do you get upset with family members, does it effect you at work? How long until you go back to the casino or gamble on something else?

"The casinos are not built upon the winners." They are the professionals, and like any business, they would not be in business if they could not turn a proft. The gambling odds are in the casino's favor and they know that. You are playing their games on their turf. Not good odds.

I just had a bad day yesterday losing $300 at Mohegan Sun. But I have had winning days too. You just have to put a losing session behind you. You can't win all the time. I always bet with fun money and if I lose it bothers me, but I will learn from it and do better the next time.

I never let it effect my home-life or my work. I leave my casino emotions at the casino. Bet with your head and not over it is the rule. I go to the casino almost weekly and I play for fun only. I never put my mortage money on the line so it is easy for me to lose and get over it.

I feel bad for people who get addicted to gambling. I can see how it happens because the environment of the casino produces this behavior. My advice to people is to keep your emotions under control and leave the losing feelings at the casino.

If losing any amount of money has this effect on you where its interfering with your life, you should absoluletly never gamble again. Gambling is a form of entertainment. I love playing poker and craps, but I never feel badly about a loss because all games save poker have odds that favor the house. And in poker, someone will always hand you a bad beat.

Gambling a few hundred dollars once a month or so isn't a problem. Losing 700 bucks in one session (unless your filthy rich) is never a healthy thing. I make a good amount of money and thats really too much. Go with a smaller bankroll unless 700 is pocket change to you. I feel gambling should be done with money that is insignificant to you. Never play with money you need, called "scared" money!

I don't play any table games or slots in a casino because they all have a house edge, so you have no advantage against the games. I do however play a lot of poker because it has no edge, you only have to be better then the other players to make money at it. I know what i am risking in a game or tournament, so if i lose i only have myself to blame. With poker players you have to have a disregard for money, so if i lose i don't think about it at all. If you start thinking about the money then you might as well go do something else.

There is a saying:
Fortune comes and knocks the door once in life time.

Be careful.

After loosing, you will still have the urge to gamble again to recover, it will go on, untill you are totally broken down along with your family.

Tell me:

Who prospered, the casino owners or the gamblers?

I love to play but when I lose I feel like
a total fool.
I usually wait for about 6 months and now never anticipate any kind of winnings.

You shouldn't let it get to you. If you had the money to spend "its just scratch." The way I see it, if you've been winning in the casinos count your self lucky they're setup to take your money. Case in point counting cards is not technically illegal (if you can do it in your head) but if they think you're doing it they will kick you out.
