On one of my feet the skin is dry, thick, and excessively hard. I don't experience so much burning, a little itching, but the main problem is the thickening of the skin. I know there's something wrong bc my other foot is not having the same symptoms. I have tried giving myself an at home pedicure once a week using one of those skin scrapers with the razor blade to shave off the thick skin on the bottom of my foot. However by the middle of the next week the skin has thickened and hardened again....is this Athlete's Foot? I notice all the symptoms of Athlete's Foot include peeling, burning, itching, and cracking...not thickening of the skin. Could I have another foot condition and if so how do I treat it? Or if this is Athlete's Foot, what is the best way to treat it once the condition has gone on for a long time?

Athletes foot, does not get hard skin, more red sore and can be weepy. The way to treat it, get some cream or talc from the Pharmacy, but you have to talc all your shoes, boil the sock and towels, let alone bleach the bath/shower. Hard skin sounds as if your feet are rebelling to your footwear. Try wearing open sandals, without socks. Feet do need to breathe!
