Judas betrayed Jesus with a kiss as that was the way that the Pharisees and Roman guards could determine who Jesus was. It happened just after "the Last supper" in the Garden of Gesthemene.
From what I understand, Judas Iscariot was a disciple, but thought that Jesus was here to start a revolution and overthrow the government. Although he was close to Jesus, he did not see Jesus for a savior and a teacher. Judas also was the treasurer of the disciples and helped himself to the money at times.

Dear Hawaiian,
The man who betrayed Jesus with a kiss was Judas Iscariot. You bring up an interesting point in that Judas had to point Jesus out to the Roman soldiers who came to arrest him. And this also proves that Jesus did not walk around with a "halo" over His head. Nor was light coming out of His eyes. Jesus looked like a typical Jewish man, and has to be pointed out to the Romans in order tio arrest Him.
The bottom line here is do not put any trust in the pictures of Jesus that have been circulated--they are all fakes. In fact, those who make these images or pictures are sinning against God.

His name was Judas, surnamed Iscariot. He betrayed Jesus with a kiss because as the prophesies foretold in Isaiah 53, he would have no appearance that would set Him from the crowd. Paraphrase.
So all these reports that claim Jesus was six foot sixty with blonde hair and blue eyes is lies sent to discredit the Bible account of Jesus. Jews/Hebrews of that time were no taller than six foot on average, had dark eyes and hair. So if Jesus, could not be distinguished in a crowd, then that is the reason for the KISS.

Judas betrayed Jesus with a kiss because he never believed Jesus was the Messiah; afterward, Judas realized he had "betrayed innocent blood" and committed suicide.

Judas Iscariot, and it was foretold that Jesus would be betrayed and so Judas played his "role" in the crucifixion.

When the anonymous author-editors wrote the gospels, they used the name Judas (Judah) as the betrayer of Jesus because they wanted to portray the Jews as Christ killers and so discredit them. Unfortunately, that belief has done more harm than good as we saw in the Holocaust.

It was Judas. The Bible says that Judas would kiss Jesus so that Jesus would know who His betrayer was.

Judas. He went up and kissed Jesus so he could be easily identified and arrested.
He got paid 30 pieces of silver for doing it.
He felt so bad about it afterward, he hung himself.

His name was Judas. I suppose because that's the name his mother gave him at birth. Judas was a common name in those days.
