Amos 5:21-23 "I hate, I despise your religious feasts; I cannot stand your assemblies. Even though you bring me burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them. Though you bring choice fellowship offerings, I will have no regard for them. Away with the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps.

This is a prophecy against Israel (vs 1) who were keeping differant days than God had commanded them (1 Kings 12:25-33)

Notice in Amos he calls them "your" feast days. Whos feast days are we to keep?

ILev. 23:2 Speak to the Israelites and say to them: 'These are my appointed feasts, the appointed feasts of the Lord, which you are to proclaim as sacred assemblies.'

The first one listed is Sabbath then the rest of the feast days. therefore does God not hate Sunday Christmas and Easter?

So your saying that God changed His mind what was wrong for Israel to do is alright for us to do now?

might I remind you that both Christmas and Easter are of pagan origin and there is not command to observe these days anywhere in the NT

The early church, after the birth and resurrection, did not keep easter nor christmas nor sunday. Their are no instructions in the NT to do so. The whole thing was added by men later so that the faith would be more palatible to pagans who did not want to give up their worship of Mithras and other gods. It is as simple as looking up christmas and easter in the catholic encyclopedia to find out the origins of these days. Since they are not God commanded days but days that are traditions of men And Yahshua said in Vain to you worship me following after the traditions of men, and yes I know he was talking to the pharisees a the time, does it not follow that you should not add to nor take away from God's law or are you better than the pharisees and Yahshua winks at your paganism and condemns theirs?

Ho 4:6 - my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.

2 Thess 2:10-12 and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

John 14:23-24 Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.

1 Cor 4:14-16 I am not writing this to shame you, but to warn you, as my dear children. Even though you have ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel. Therefore I urge you to imitate me.

He was referring to their adherance without the faith. They werre going through the motions. That is why I don't like to ritualize my relationship with God. Sure, there are things like communion, prayer, fasting, and giving of myself without expectation of return, but I won't do anything unless there is a conviction that I am doing them in trust of God, doing what he would want me to do. All other actions that I do are empty, and are devoid of eternal implications.

These are specifically speaking to the israelites in times of rebellion and punishment..

and truly how could christmas and easter be listed in this time before the birth or the death and ressurection of christ? this is a poor argument

No i am saying that this is the lord speaking to israel when they were rebelling purposely against the covenenat that they had swore to God. Christmas and easter would have had nothing to do with the old covenenant being that Christ ahd not came yet. ...the argument is good up until you try to confuse the two

Really....celebrating the birth of the savior of the world and his death and ressurection are pagan? Hmmmm

There were agreat deal of pagan feats that the early catholic church did incorporate into their false doctrine...however to say that God hates his children to celebrate the very act that he orchestrated to save the world is well loony

You believe that an open celebration of God and his Son are the same as the pagan festivals that god punished the israelites for?!? This a perfect example of a person having just enough head knowledge of scripturte to ignore the obvious heart knowledge needed to understand it

1 John 4
1Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

2Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

3And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

4Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

5They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.

6We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
