that if I just READ THE BIBLE, that I will just automatically know that the LDS church (Mormons) is false, wrong, whatever? Do they think we have nothing to do with the Bible? Or do they just think that we can't see what's right in front of us?

It's because I READ THE BIBLE that I AM Mormon. The more I read and study the Bible, the more convinced I am that I am right where God wants me.

Just because I don't interpret the Bible the same way, doesn't mean I'm wrong and they're right.

The problem is that you gain most of your teachings not from the word of god but from another source. When God said its is done he meant it...he didnt say its done until I decide to write the book of mormon. If you read the bible you should know that. Interpretaion of the bible is done through the holy spirit not by you

When I got saved and read the christian bible, I found a whole slew of things I never knew was in the bible, all kinds of scriptures that were there before in the Mormon bible started popping out at me that helped me thru my day and I started to learn things from God. I read the Mormon bible three times and got nothing out of it, the same with the book of Mormon. Oh I got the burning, but nothing to help get me thru the day or nothing to help me in times of trouble. I found out that when I was in a religion that was not a true religion, scripture cannot truelly help me, 2 corinthians 4:3"and even our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are pershing. 4the god of this age (satan) has blinded the eyes of the unbelievers (and I claimed to be a christian) so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of christ, who is the image of God. I am sure your bibkle has this verse, but I am not sure if it is exactly like this verse, mine is from the NIV version not the KJV. Sorry I found your books so boring, but they did nothing for me, its when I got a hold of a christian bible that a whole new world was open up for me.

*clapping hands* Thank you so much. I feel much the same way, although I have not read the Bible all of the way through. Every time I pick up that book I feel something more than just paper and ink, I feel something so pure and divine. The same feeling comes with The Book of Mormon, The Docterine and Convenants, and The Peral of Great Price. I know that they all are true. it amazes me how people can think so closed-minded some times.

Does the Bible really say God cannot or will not bring more Scripture? No. Most people use Rev 22:18-19 to claim that no scripture can be added to the Bible, but if you read Deut. 4:2 in the same manner then everything that came after the book of Deut is not scripture. Rev 22 was talking specifically about Rev the Book. And it was saying do not change my word with the philosophies of man.

2 Tim 3:16-17All scripture is inspired and profitable.

Most Christians believe in the canonization of the Bible. This is a false doctrine. The Catholics only selected a few of the books written by Apostles and put them together as a collective whole. What about the Apocrypha? Those books used to be in the Bible! Isn't this taking away from the word of God?

The Book of Mormon is prophesied of in the Bible...Read Ezekiel 37:15-19.

Hope that helps! :0 Have a good day! :)

Susane:
There are a few problems with the way you used those verses...
Paul was talking to the Galations and was angry at them because they were already starting to change the gospel of Christ.
1. The Book of Mormon isn't "another gospel" it is the gospel of Christ, it's another testament of him.
2. Paul wasn't saying that no angel could bring forth scripture, or messages, or revelation... he was saying: Even if I or even an angel came and preached a DIFFERENT GOSPEL you should not listen to him.

2 Tim 3:16-17All scripture is inspired and profitable.

Laptop: 1 Cor 15:29 Baptism for the dead. It also says not to use the Lords name in vain... your avatar name is doing so.

F C: The Mormons do not teach that marriage is given to everyone.
When Paul was talking about not being married he was talking about while being as him... as in spreading the gospel. And he didn't say it's better for everyone to not get married.
What about Abraham? he was chosen of God to have many wives... And besides mormons do not practice polygamy.
Jesus wasn't talking about substance there... he was talking about evil. We shouldn't worry when others do us harm or curse us... we should be worried when we curse others.
The only perfect person ever to live was Jesus Christ... what about when Peter said He was a vile sinner... we are all sinners, that's why the Father gave his only begotten Son... to save the world, not to condemn it.
And as for the Mormon church being like every other denomination... have you met many Mormons? By their fruits ye shall know them.

There may well be another testament of Christ. But the problem I have is the contradictions. Maybe it's a misunderstanding. Why would Jesus say that marriage is not given to everybody, and even Paul says that it is well to stay single, yet the Mormon's preach that the more the merrier?

Jesus said that it's not what comes into a man than defiles him, but what comes out. But Mormons worry about caffeine?

Historical Mormons have done some bad things, yet John says that anyone who is in God does not sin.

The Mormon church just seems like another of the umpteenth christian sects that interprets differently and claims different experiences, and therefore sets up yet another division.

I am curious. Did you come to your conclusions regarding the bible by yourself, or did your Sunday school teacher tell you what they should be?

Do you debate the nagging questions about the Book of Mormon, the unfulfilled and even the obviously wrong prophecies of Joseph Smith in priesthood meetings?

Mormons don't debate or discuss. They dictate and are told precisely what to believe. If it's not in the manual, it's not discussed. They cannot engage in meaningful dialog, much like a fundie christian.

The mind was not made to be neglected or filled with fairy tales into adulthood. Reading the bible is fine, but what else have you read? Mitt Romney says one of his favorite books is "Battlefield Earth" by L Ron Hubbard - the founder of Scientology. I'm not impressed. Hopefully your library is richer.

Your quote "I am right where god wants me" is one I've heard thousands of times. You've memorized mantra. You can quote verse upon verse. I'd be more impressed if you could read ancient Hebrew, Aramaic Greek or even reformed Egyptian.

Those who add to the bible will have the plagues written therein added unto them. The Book of Mormon is a addition.
If you read the bible you would then know that baptism for the dead and eternal marriage are false teaching and you would know that all the prophets of the Mormon church are false prophets.

Let's look at what the Bible says about the beliefs you've been taught.

Galatians 1:8 But even if we, **OR AN ANGEL FROM HEAVEN,** preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if ANYONE preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.

To mainstream Christianity, it has little or nothing to do with "interpretation," and everything to do with the *fact* that Joseph Smith received most of what you believe from an *angel.* These teachings both add to -- and detract from -- the Gospel.

EDIT: To "Freetobefearless,"

Your point 1: there is no *other* Gospel of Jesus, only that which was given to the Apostles! Please, turn from this apostacy, which is an affront to God.

Your point 2: You cannot BOTH claim that the Mormons don't follow "a different Gospel" AND claim that the "other gospel" given to Joseph Smith is acceptable. Paul's intent was clear: DON'T LISTEN TO ANYONE WHO TRIES TO GIVE YOU ANOTHER GOSPEL. This includes "angels."

I am a Mormon. And I asked God himself if I should be a member. Through an answer to prayer, he revealed his will. I cannot go against what God told me. Who am I to deny his message to me? End of story.

I would say it is the same reason that the Mormon missionaries think I will convert to their religion by reading their version of the bible, and why the other christian groups pushing their version of your religion think by reading thier junk I will want to join them...
