It's an American thing.
Most churches in Europe are empty most of the time anyway.
The success of the public school system raised the mean education level sufficiently so that religious superstition is quietly fading away.

All churches compete, all over the world, but not to the extent that American churches do, and I think this is because (not in spite) of what was originally a secular government (and still should be) and a free economy. Sort of like religion going capitalistic.

Thankfully here in Britain hardly anyone bothers going to church anymore. We're all too hungover from our saturday night binge drinking to be worried about nonsense like that. We don't have billboards and tv adverts trying to persuade us to give our money to paedo priests if thats what you mean.

I don't remember any churches in England advertising but all the ones here in Florida have signs outisde with little slogans like "No Jesus, no peace. Know Jesus, know peace" and other such rubbish.

I hope not. I would be a little sad if they were to be that infected with our culture.

Churches in America don't compete for worshipers. They simply want as many people as possible to hear about God and his love and give their lives to him so they don't have to burn in hell. Heaven is a much better option and they want everyone to hear about it whereever they can. They don't compete.
