I have an avi. file of 700mb and want to compress it to about 350mb.What's the easiest method?

you will need to convert it to a lower resolution to get it that much smaller

You would need to use a video editing software. Open the file, and then resave it using either a lower screen reolution, fewer frames per second, or reducing the size of the displayed image (if it is current 700 pixels across, reduce to 320 for example).

Note that anything you do to reduce the file size will also reduce the quality of the picture.

You can also try saving a different format. Usually files of mpg or wmv can be made smaller in file size without as much lose of quality.

But, not knowning what the original dimensions, quality, intended purpose, etc of the file is, I can not give you specifice dimensions or quality level and format to use. You will just have to play around a little until you find a combination that does what you need it to...

I would not recommend doing this, as then the video quality will go down alot! Instead why dont you split the avi file up, so if its a movie then you can split the movie into 2 parts, you can do this with Blaze Media Pro, just google it and there should a link to download.
