The main function is to create PDF files, which is a universal file format, any computers with Acrobat readers can open the document, regardless what application were used to create it.
The acrobat reader is just a reader, to read documents generated by the Acrobat creator.

Hello:
Adobe acrobat reads .pdf files. which is just a type of file.
one in there you can manipulate the file and print etc.
