If god gave man claws to climb trees he would be in competition with the squirrel's greatness. He would not allow that to happen.

"the fall of man" had to do with man falling out of tree. It had to do with man not obeying God. As Even and Adam ate the fruit of the One Tree that God forbade them to eat.
