While at my daughter-in laws mothers house She allowed our 2 year old grandson have a ciggarette and pretend to smoke it. She thought it was cute,I on the other hand was outraged. I told my son about it,but he said that he's asked her not to do that anymore.Apparently that didn't work. I didn't say anything because my son and daughter are seperated and I was visiting the other grandmothers house.I'm at a lost on what to do. Any suggestions?

Was the cigarette lit? If its was then I think you have every right to be outraged. I would tell her not to do it again. I am a smoker and even I think this is an example of an adult using a child to satisfy her foolish little whims. The child will remember this and want to smoke one for real when he is old enough to buy them or get his hands on them.

He needs to get more forceful with his wishes to not do that anymore. If he cannot, please speak up about this issue, especially if the cigarette is lit! If it isn't, its not too big of a deal, but the kid will need to learn that it is not "cool" nor is it healthy to smoke, so I would still say something if she does that.
