That does have a great deal to do with it.
Also, Europeans do not have a gun/death culture like the USA does. In Europe, criminals are not looked up to but looked down upon as they should be.
Not so in the US. Criminals are seen as heroes and as "robin hood" characters. Police are actually villified for doing their jobs and ridding the world of these vermin.
Until that situation makes a 180degree turn, the US will always be a barbaric, backwards place when compared to Europe.

I dun see how Europe is more civilised than the US or Spain or Africa or Japan or any other place. I am sick of people ALWAYS saying (at least for those I have come across) " oooh, Europe!!That is my ULTIMATE destination. It is so civilised and cultured blah blah blah." Cultured? Is Europe the only place on Earth where culture exists??Every place on this Earth has culture. The US, Mexico, India, Japan all has culture and traditions...only difference it varies from place to place. I cannot stand seeing the Westeners (not all though) laughing at Asian cultures and Asians (not all though again) laughing at their own traditions and cultures and being a wannabe. Like Westeners are ALL THAT. I am Asian btw. I dun hate Westeners get it clear is just what's up with the fascination with the Western culture?i am seeing and hearing this more and more everyday of Asian Westeners wannabe...like come on be proud of who you are whatever race you are.
about civilisation....how can you generalise like the whole of Europe or the US? each place has its good and bad...enough said.

Indeed. And mind you, they have really fundamentalist and extremist muslims in their midst and see: September 11 didn't happen out there, as for the London underground bombing, or the one in Madrid they were more US related than religion motivated acts. The US chose the worst brand of Christianity: the fundamentalist, redneck evangelicalism now sitting in the White House.

Yes definitely. But you have to go north, ie Northern Germany, Benelux, Sweden, etc. Down south it’s like the freakin bible belt but only Catholic. Central and Northern Europe is extremely cultured and religion is only a pastime (it’s not taken very seriously). Oh there are nudist camps everywhere, smoking grass is basically legal in Holland and they have cafes for it with menus to choose your weed, look I could go on forever but it’s certainly the most advanced place on earth and very free. But it’s not more civilised because there’s less religion, rather there’s less religion because it’s more civilised.

Europe is now Pagan and U.S. still has a chance to revert back to Christianity and if not, it too will be Pagan!

Europe has had the illusion of civility for centuries, but when push comes to shove, they show extreme barbarism..

If religion is forced through the government, it might make a difference. But you're stretching to make your point here as with most of your questions. Let atheism make you more compassionate and tolerant instead of angry at believers. I enjoy my Atheism. I don't chide believers.

That is one factor, yes. They have more experience interacting with different cultures, and have become far more tolerant of others than most people in the U.S.

it was always my impression that they are "more civilized" because they have less power but are still fairly wealthy.
power and poverty tend to be two huge factors in the uncivilized actions of both individuals and societies.
