It depends on where it is cut from, but it is the butcher that decides to call it a medallion.
Usually it is a top end cut.
Think of it this way, if you are paying top dollar for the meat, it will be good.

It may be, but not necessarily. Many butchers use inside round steak for medallions, while others use higher grades, and some wrap them in bacon.
Unlike the usual cuts, (sirloin, shoulder, etc.) which relate to the names given to the part of the animal prior to cutting, medallion is a description of the approximate shape of what the meat will be when it is cut into chunks.

A pork chop would probably have the most fat left on by the butcher. With the price of meat most butchers remove most of the fat so you would probably need to order a piece of corned silverside.
