My allergist told me to google egg allergies. The lists mention bread, pasta, beer etc. Is ALL bread, pasta and beer bad for me? Are there some brands that are ok? I also saw somewhere that sausages and some deli meats use eggs to hold the meat together. Is there anyone out there with an egg allergy or a parent of an egg allergy child who can give me hints as to what foods I should definitely stay away from and what foods I can eat??

I've been allergic to eggs since I was an infant. You haven't mentioned how they allergy affects you... I did allergy tests years ago and they said I was allergic to everything(over 300 allergens), even though I only show symptoms for grasses, eggs, and now unfortunately shrimp. Not all bread has eggs, in fact, most don't have eggs in them. A majority of the pastas out there do not have eggs either. I don't drink alcohol so I don't know about beer (never heard of that one). If you're having symtoms, (i.e.- breathing difficulties, swollen lips, scratchy throat) you're gonna just have to be vigiliant and read labels. BUT if you're just going by some test and not an actual reaction you've had, continue doing your normal diet. P.S.- if you do have a bad reaction, ask dr.'s about any shots you receive. Some innoculations like the flu vaccine are grown on egg shells ( I can't get the flu shot). And when I had surgery, the anesthesiologist halted the surgery when he asked me about alllergies before he was about to put me under. He was about to put me out with something that had egg components to it!

As with any food allergy or sensitivity, you're going to need to start reading labels -- on everything! Things to look for -- eggs, egg whites, egg yolks, egg protiens, albumen. Yes, alot of commercial breads, pastas, meat patties, etc contain egg, but not all of them do. A natural-ish food store (like Whole Foods/Wild Oats) would be a good place to start looking for specialty egg-free food. There you can also find Ener-G Egg Replacer, an artificial egg product made primarily from potato starch. I use this and it works pretty well as an egg substitute in most recipes. You just have to experiment with it in some recipes. At the regular grocery, stay away from sweet breads, Hawaiian bread, cakes, cookies, egg noodles (you might try the NO YOLKS Brand)sausages, meatloafs, anything breaded, mayo, -- the list goes on. But reading labels will save you alot of heartache (or tummy ache).
Best wishes and good luck! Hope this helps!

you're going to have to start reading labels. Not all bread, pasta or sausages have eggs added. Your best bet to find food without eggs is to go to a health food market. You could speak to the store manager and I'm sure they would be happy to help you find what you need.
Your best bet for eating healthy is fruit, vegetables (Including potatoes), brown rice, chicken, fish, turkey and beef. there's nothing in these foods to cause allergies.

Do not eat any bread, rolls, pies, cookies, cakes, muffins, waffles that you buy in bakeries or at stores. Make your own without using eggs. Do not eat any of these in restaurants either.
Do not eat egg noodles of any kind. Read labels carfully on
all pasta products. A lot of brands have egg, some do not.
No beer. Whiskey and rum are ok.
No deli meats, hot dogs, or sausages unless the label says nothing about eggs, egg white, egg protein, or albumen.
Meringue is made with eggs stay away from it. Angel food cake is made with eggs. Stay away. Custard is made with eggs. Do not eat.
Some protein bars and shakes have egg in them. Read the labels.

try an omelet. get your fave meats like ham, bacon, sausage, shrimp & some veggies like tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms, onions, spinach or olives in any combo you like & saute in a little oil or pan spray & set aside. take 2 or 3 eggs add salt & pepper & whisk til beaten & place in a skillet with a little oil & cook with a spatula picking up the egg on the edges & letting the egg run to the pan as to cook it when it is almost done you can either turn the egg or go ahead & add your meat & veggies on one half of it & top with a little cheddar cheese then flip the other side on top and put on a plate. hope this helps
