Try to keep it in a cool place away from sunlight, and at a slight angle (around 30 degrees or so) so the cork stays moist. After you pop it in the fridge you only have 2 months to drink it. That's industry standard hold time. And once it's in the fridge you can't take it out and re-store it at room temp.
Trust me on this one. I have some champagne from the 1990's, and if you don't drink it within 2 months of being in the fridge, you can tell the difference.
Cheers!

Store it on its side at a 45 degree angle in a place with a constant temperature, preferably below 75. Sideways in a closet usually works nicely. Make sure it's not in a warm spot or it will "cook" inside the bottle and turn into vinegar.
Now it gets tricky. The thing about Champagne is that you don't want to chill it or put it in the fridge until you are positive that you are going to drink it soon. If you chill and then un-chill the Champagne, it messes with the flavor and bubbles and makes it taste flat. So if you already have it in the fridge, keep it there until you're ready to drink it.
Same goes for growlers of beer.

Since champagne is just another type of wine, I would think the usual way for wine would be best...on it's side with the neck pointing just slightly down, in a cool dark place.

Store in a cool dry place, like a shelf in a garage or pantry.
