From the rationalizations in the responses so far, it certainly seems so.

I am a Muslim, I am a woman, I cover myself completely. By the way, I was not raised as a Muslim, I converted few years ago.
If you are a male, I do assume that you would like to see women more liberated - ie.: "naked" ?Do you think that nakedness is not a symbol of brainwashed women? Or maybe you yourself want to brainwash US? If you are a woman, I think you should appreciate the fact, that there are women in this world who chose modesty and chastity and do not want to be liberated - to be ablee to undress. Intelligence is a 'thing' which is hidden. Hidden under the burqa - I do believe more, then uncovered in bikini.

Personally, I prefer to be brainwashed by God Allmighty, then by men following their lusts and desires.

If wearing modest clothes is a symbol of being brainwashed, then christian nuns must be brainwashed too, then christian priests (see Greek orthodox especially) must be brainwashed too...

Why you people cannot overcome the fact, that women do not want to expose themselves? Simply like that. Stop represing and offending us by making such statements, pls.

No, of course not. Many women take pleasure in wearing a burka. By the way it is not a symbol of repression, get your facts straight.

No, but I think many people are brainwashed by the media to think that modesty = oppression. In most cases modesty=respect for one's self.
